CD Review: SERJ TANKIAN – Harakiri
Serj Tankian is one of the most interesting musicians in the rock/metal scene. His solo career is full of experimentation with a unique sound that makes it hard to look the other way with him, even without System Of A Down. Here we have the next installment in his solo career, Harakiri, and who knows what we’re going to get this time? His heaviest release to date? A repeat of past releases? Or, is it going to be maybe a little toned down than ever before? (more…)

A/V Roundup: New music from AVENGED SEVENFOLD, SERJ TANKIAN; New EVERY TIME I DIE antics
It's Friday – time to party! Then again, when is it NOT time to party? I guess when you have to go to work. Bummer. But this is update isn't about bummers, it's about new music and video clips to distract you from the mundaneness of your everyday existence. Damn, bummer again. Here is today's A/V Roundup:
Avenged Sevenfold have released a new track, "Welcome To The Family" via an interesting cross promotion with the new Call of Duty game, Black Ops. Check out the track/video right here
Not to be outdone, Serj Tankian released another lyric video for the track "Left of Center". I dig it. Better than the last track he released. For all you Serj fans out there, our brobros at MetalSucks conducted a fantastic interview with him that was recently posted. Make sure to check it out.
Finally, the always entertaining Every Time I Die released the first episode of Shit Happens, The Series and it's of course hilarious. Put down whatever you are doing and watch it!

AV Roundup: New music from MASTODON, SERJ TANKIAN, NORMA JEAN, PARKWAY DRIVE
First up, we finally get a taste of what Mastodon's contributions to the Jonah Hex score are. Sterogum premiered a track titled "Indian Theme". It starts off sounding like really creepy Native American music and then kicks in to a Mastodonian jam. It sounds pretty fun. Don't expect any vocals though.
Above you can hear the first single from Serj Tankian's new album, titled "Borders Are." I really liked his 2007 release, Elect The Dead and I am a huge System fan, but this doesn't do it for me. I prefer the heavier side of Serj, not the ballads. Please, act accordingly, kthxbai. Serj's new album, Imperfect Harmonies, comes out September 7th on Warner.
Speaking of new tracks, the new Norma Jean track also streamable on Youtube called Deathbed Atheist off their upcoming release, Meridional. It's oooookay. If you like new Norma, this one's definitely up your ally.
More than one of you have asked for us to cover Parkway Drive more often on the site. Here goes: The band is streaming their entire new album on their MySpace page. Look at that! Some PD (not to be confused with PxDx) coverage for you.

A/V Roundup: Listen to new GOJIRA, UNEARTH, watch SOULFLY, SERJ, IN THIS MOMENT
It's almost October, which means, as Jim Ross would say…"Business is about to pick up". Check out some recent A/V postings from around the interwebs:
GOJIRA (properly pronounced: GOJJIIRRRRRRAAAAHHH) have posted 10 of the 12 tracks off their new album The Way Of All Flesh has been posted on the band's MySpace page. This album is absolutely incredible. This band has the heaviest tone of any band out right now. Definitely pick up the record when it comes out October 14th.
UNEARTH have posted a second track, "We Are Not Anonymous" on their MySpace page. Don't expect barriers to be broken. It's the typical UNEARTH sound at it's finest. I'll definitely give this album a listen when it comes out.
Oh snap! We have exclusive footage of SOULFLY performing "Paranoia" from their new album Conquer live at Area4 Festival in Germany. Check it out here.
Live footage of SERJ TANKIAN performing at the annual "Reading Festival" overseas can be found here and here.
A full concert of songs from IN THIS MOMENT's new album The Dream has been posted over at Woozyfly

There has been a lot of speculation about what's happening with this year's OZZFEST , but all of that was put to rest when the official announcement was made today. OZZFEST 2008 will be a one-day event on Saturday, August 9 at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, Texas. There will be three stages and the lineup is as follows:
Main Stage:
OZZY OSBOURNE

SERJ TANKIAN
HELLYEAH

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY
SHADOWS FALL
APOCALYPTICA
IN THIS MOMENT
All-Star Tribute To "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott
Second Stage

Looks like a pretty stacked lineup, for sure. Obviously, with it being Dallas, and Vinnie Paul being there, they almost have to do a Dimebag tribute, and it should be interesting to see with all those notable artists there. Would you guys go?
