It's almost Friday, a perfect time for some br000talz death metalz, old school thrash metalz and some music from deathcore dudes like Chelsea Grin. Here is today's roundup:

Exhumed is back! I was able to check out their new record No Guts, All Gloryholes, which hits stores July 5th and it is so fucking crushing. I loved it and I will be hard-pressed to find a grind/death metal fan who wouldn't appreciate it. If you don't believe, you can head over to Decibel's blog where they are streaming the track "Necrotized". Let us know what you think in the comments.  (more…)

The festival will be held in one of the oldest industrial pockets of Quebec, otherwise known as Trois-Rivières. Beneath the Massacre (Montreal), L'esprit du clan (France), Insurrection (Gatineau), and Kalter (Quebec) are also confirmed for the festival, adding to the already insurmountable levels of raw aggression (à la classic thrash and grind!). Now Andreas Is Cool With A SEPULTURA Reunion?

Holy shit, Andreas, I can't believe you! Let's do a quick recap: About a year ago, news surfaced that Max Cavalera wanted to reunite the original Sepultura lineup but Andreas refused/resisted. Then Max kept talking shit about Sepultura and how Paolo is old. We giggled a bit. Finally, last month, the current incarnation of the band released a video saying there was no reunion and Sepultura as is will tour throughout 2011. Fine, we thought. We can all move on with our lives. That was until somebody decided to interview Andreas about the possibility of the reunion and he backpedaled. (more…)

SEPULTURA Reunion Not Happening, Or Is It? (No, It's Not)

Last week, I posted about Max Cavalera's quotes in a recent interview where he started pointing fingers for why the Sepultura reunion is not happening. Well, I guess Andreas and the rest of the current iteration of Sepultura read those quotes and they are fed up, and they ended up releasing the following video:

Members of SEPULTURA attend CAVALERA CONSPIRACY Show in Brazil

Back in May, we found out that Max Cavalera spoke with Andreas Kisser about a potential reunion of the classic Sepultura line-up but Andreas refused/resisted. It seemed like the talks of a reunion soured when dealing with specifics, like tour crew and management. One would think that these guys ultimately are still carrying years worth of resentment as well.

Which makes it sort of shocking that Andreas and current Sepultura vocalist Derrick Green attended Brazil's SWU Music and Arts Festival, which featured Cavalera Conspiracy's first Brazlian performance. Andreas was spotted watching the band. CC pretty much mixes tracks of their debut album, Inflikted with old classic Sepultura tunes so it's interesting to see that Andreas made it out for that. I really wish I could be there to see how he reacted to Max playing those tunes.

Footage has cropped up from a Brazilian news report of drummer Igor Cavalera hanging out with Derrick Green calling the current Sepultura frontman one of his "real, real friends for life" so they clearly still get along. I have to wonder out loud Max and Andreas were chatting as well, perhaps behind closed doors. I would love to see a classic Sepultura reunion but ultimately, I think it's probably too late. I mean, what the hell would Derrick do? Stand off to the side and watch? It would be too weird. Maybe if the money is even greater, and one of them goes broke it could happen, but for right now it doesn't seem probable.

SEPULTURA Reunion Could've Happened, But Andreas Refused; Resisted

Sorry, I couldn't resist with that headline. Anyway, the fine brohemians at Metalsucks brought to my attention a recent interview with AltSounds where Max Cavalera discussed a potential reunion with his old Sepultura band mates. This happened right before he and Igor established Cavalera Conspiracy, as he sought to reunite his old band first. But there was one problem, Andreas: (more…)

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY to Enter Studio this April

By: Navjot Kaur

With the splintering of relations between MAX and IGOR CAVALERA due to band-conflict in 1996, both brothers seemed to have reached an end point in their collaborative efforts: a sad day for many SEPULTURA fans worldwide. It wasn’t until 2008 that CAVALERA CONSPIRACY rose from its ashes, featuring both CAVALERA brothers, as well as JOE DUPLANTIER of GOJIRA, in what emerged a Brazilian-French “supergroup.”

With the same tongue-in-cheek, anti-establishment energy that catapulted SEPULTURA out of Brazil and into the metal embrace (pushes, and shoves) of thrashers and hardcore punk fans worldwide, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY released Inflikted on ROADRUNNER RECORDS. After a two-year break, the band has broken their silence: having confirmed that they will be reentering the studios this April, to record the follow-up to their debut release. (more…)

SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser has lost his mind

Formerly relevant guitarist Andreas Kisser of SEPULTURA was recently interviewed by MetalPaths and they asked the tough questions, like what he thinks of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, the new project featuring his former bandmates Max and Igor Cavalera. His response:

I've heard the album. It is not bad, but they could do a lot better. For what people was expecting, I think it is very weak.

Dude, have you heard your new CD A-Lex? That's the epitome of weak. In fact, its in a class all of its own. The CAVALERA CONSPIRACY record is what your last record should have sounded like! Why do you have be a douche? Why couldn't you just take the high road. Oh wait there is more: (more…)

Holy crap! They're actually putting out the Roadrunner United 25th Show as a DVD.

Wow. In 2005, Frank and I went to the Nokia Theater in Times Square for probably the grandest Christmas party of all Christmas parties. It was the Roadrunner Records 25th Anniversary show and the label rented out the venue 4 hours before for an industry-wide open bar. Needless to say, by the time the show started Frank and I were barely able to stand. But I do recall yelling at the top of my lungs and just being in awe of the whole night and what a moment it was. It upset me when I spoke to somebody at Roadrunner the day after and they told me that they probably wouldn't do anything with the footage. I guess they had a change of heart, because now Blabbermouth reports they will release a double-disc DVD featuring all the performances and a documentary about it on December 9, 2008. We captured the entire night in photographs. Roadrunner has posted the following two teaser clips to get you pumped:

The complete setlist including performers after the jump… (more…)

ANDREAS KISSER of SEPULTURA posts new songs from solo album online

Andreas Kisser solo debut Hubris I & II available 10/20/08

Guitarist ANDREAS KISSER has posted four new songs from his debut solo album Hubris I & II which will be available on October 20, 2008 through Mascot Records. Go to his myspace now and preview "Vivaldi", "God's Laugh", "Page", and "Eu Humano" – four classically trained blues-heavy rock and metal songs that show us a different side of Kisser than we've ever seen before. Although these songs are probably not representative of what to expect on the forthcoming SEPULTURA release A-Lex that is due in November, there are some awesome headbang inducing guitar heavy grooves and intense sweep-picking to whet your appetite for all of the releases featuring Andres Kisser that will be coming out this year. On Dante XXI Kisser and his Sepultura bandmates did quite well to rebound from the chaos that surrounded their band in the late-90s and early-00s, and (despite the fact that I'm not sure how the new drummer can possibly fill the shoes of the since departed Igor Cavalera) this writer is honestly fucking excited to see what is to come from the thrash legends from Brazil. Here's to the future! For now, check out myspace.com/andreaskisser and myspace.com/sepultura to stay tuned for release updates.
