Let's start with a new Trivium track titled "Inception Of The End." I really dig this straight up heavy metal tune, and longtime Trivium fans will too. Haters will continue to hate. In Waves hits stores August 2nd on Roadrunner Records. (more…)

The band released a statement on their Myspace (people still use Myspace?!) page noting that they are parting ways, but will still fill all touring commitments they have with fill-ins. Here is the official statement from the band: (more…)

Audio Roundup: New music from LAZARUS AD, TRAP THEM, ELECTRIC WIZARD and more.
Two audio roundups in just as many days? Must be a good week. Today, we go a bit more underground with new tunes from Trap Them, Electric Wizard and Lazarus AD. Also, we'll tell you about a pretty sweet little side project from one of the guitarists of Periphery. Let's get this roundup started:
Lazarus AD just posted the first behind the scenes clip from their album recording on this very site. It doesn't stop there. The band has posted the title track off their upcoming release, Black Rivers Flow on Noisecreep. The album hits stores February 1st.
Trap Them are back with new music! BrooklynVegan premiered the track "The Facts" yesterday. It sounds rather awesome. And why wouldn't it? Behind the board was one of my favorite producers around, Kurt Ballou. Darker Handcraft comes out March 15th on Prosthetic.
If you just woke up (it's 1pm man) and took a giant hit of your resinated bong, then you should check out the new Electric Wizard tune which was just posted on Sterogum. If you're a stoner and don't know about this band, you're not a real stoner brah!
Finally, for something a little different: Jake Bowen, guitarist of Periphery has posted a track he was working on for an electronic/dub side project. Definitely some interesting stuff worth checking out if you're into that sort of stuff.
Watch The Guitarists of PERIPHERY and VEIL OF MAYA talking shop
Veil of Maya's Marc Okubo and Periphery's Misha Mansoor (not to be confused with Metal Misha) are not only two incredible shredders, but they are also two of the most "real" people in metal. They love it and just want to have a good time. So, the folks at Guitar Messanger had a brilliant idea to have the two dudes interview each other. They talk about how they write guitar parts, and their techniques, going back and forth giving advice. It's really a great interview with gear-geeks. Watch part two after the jump… (more…)

Two Shredders Walk Into A Basement, And Shred!
Here is a video of Darkest Hour guitarist Mike Schleibaum and Periphery guitarist Misha Mansoor just shooting the shit and shredding their pants off. This video was shot to help promote the upcoming Legacy tour which will feature Darkest Hour, Periphery, Veil of Maya and Revocation, which is an absolutely STELLAR bill which we look forward to seeing. Meanwhile, enjoy this video above. I really dig the jam these two pull off at the end, should be a fun tour.
PERIPHERY Have Some Weird Fans
Periphery surely have a lot of fans who are A/V nerds. It comes with the territory. So it should shock no one that one such fan has a bit too much time on his hands. Enough time in fact, that they can re-edit a year old instructional video the band produced into umm something more? The result is a trippy one minute piece you see above. Junkies with a history of seizures may want to avoid the clip.
You can catch Periphery this fall on the Legacy tour with Darkest Hour, Veil of Maya and Revocation.

Veil of Maya will be direct support, and playing right before them are Periphery. Audio Roundup: New music from WHITECHAPEL, MISERY INDEX & PERIPERHY
Over the weekend, three awesome bands decided to give you a sneak peek of music they will be putting out very soon via album streams. Here is a nice lil roundup to get you up to speed:
WHITECHAPEL have released a taste of their forthcoming release, A New Era of Corruption. The track is called "The Darkest Day of Man" and may just be the best WC song I have heard yet. The song sounds heavy and crunchy and flows really well. Check it out for yourself on their MySpace page. The new album hits stores June 8th. Make sure to check out the studio reports the guys have been submitting as well.
Another release we can't wait to hear is the new album from PERIPHERY. The album comes out a week from tomorrow and to get the hype going, the band posted another new track on their MySpace page. The track is called "Insomnia" and it may leave you up all night because you will not be able to get the track out of your head.
Finally, MISERY INDEX have posted the first official studio track from their new album, Heirs to Theivery called Carrion Call on their MySpace page. I don't even have to provide any opinion because these guys are master craftsmen and always put out quality material. If the studio recording isn't enough, Metal Nick has two live bootlegs of new songs from the band in his channel.
