REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS 2012 Nominees Announced; To Be Broadcast Live Online & Xbox
Every year, the Revolver Golden Gods Awards ends up being the biggest party of the year when it comes to metal. We always run into a lot of big names on the red black carpet. The last few years a truncated version of the show has aired on either VH1 Classic or MTV2. They would slice a three and a half hour show down to 45 minutes, so natually a lot of stuff was left out. Keeping with the times, Revolver announced that the fourth iteration of the only hard rock & heavy metal award show would be broadcast in it's entirety on Xbox Live and on the Revolver and Xbox Facebook pages. That's a pretty interesting broadcasting strategy, and one that I think will ultimately result in more viewers for the award show.
As for the details, the event happens at the Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles on April 11th, 2012 and will feature performances by Marilyn Manson, Slash, Evanescence, Sixx AM and Black Veil Brides. The show will once again be hosted by Fozzy frontman and WWE superstar Chris Jericho. Gene Simmons will receive the honorary Revolver Golden God award. Fans can vote in all the categories. Here are this year's nominees: (more…)

MARILYN MANSON Announces Spring 2012 Tour
Marilyn Manson (where did the Spooky Kids go?) is finally hitting the road in the U.S. again most likely to promote his new album, Born Villian, which comes out in May. The first leg of the tour will begin April 27th in Providence, RI, and wrap up May 20th at Rock On The Range. Taylor Mumsen's band, The Pretty Reckless is set to play, at least, one of the dates if you look on Ticketmaster, so it is likely that the band will be supporting Manson the entire leg. Check out tour dates after the jump: (more…)
MARILYN MANSON's Shitty (SHIA LeBOUF Directed) Music Video Now Available For Your Viewing Displeasure
Everything about this is disgusting. A few weeks ago, we learned that douchey Transformers star Shia LeBouf and douchier has-been shock rocker Marilyn Manson are like totally besties now. LeBouf was originally slated to direct a documentary for Manson, but I guess Marilyn loves the dude so much, he let him create a sub-par music video for him as well. The six minute clip, is like a cliche clipart "disturbing shots and weird stuff happening" video that would not look out of place 15 years ago, but runs very boring for me today. Take a look (the clip is sorta NSFW): (more…)

Is Heavy Metal a Threat to Afghani Culture? Local Youth Shreds to Differ.
Geo·dissonance: the metal movement is proliferating to all corners of the globe. In its relentless display of vitriolic truths and the ugliest questions of existence, we can hear the resounding riffs of heavy metal in the most conservative pockets of society. As your Punjabi, riff-worshiping correspondent, I've created Geodissonance to report the controversy: as metal unveils dissonance in cradles of brutality around the world.
To some, the notion of “Western” culture may call to mind dust bowls, the Wild West, and cheesy cowboy flicks; to much of Afghanistan, it represents a threat to a national history, culture, and honor. In the last year in a half, local Afghani bands D.U. and The White Page have pushed for a cultural evolution, via incitation of a movement most notably “Western” in its roots: heavy metal. In November 2010, D.U. ripped out a cover of “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” the Eurythmics song that was effectively set into the air-waves by Ohio-based shock rocker, Marilyn Manson. If their intent was to “shock,” their goal was well-achieved; since their appearance upon the stage, as a bunch of raging, Afghani metalheads (à la leather jackets, metal chains, and long black hair whipping across their guitars and bass), many locals have identified the groups as “trashy Western music,” representing the “cultural imperialism” of the Western world. Douche and Douchier: Shia LeBouf Creating MARILYN MANSON Documentary
This may be the douchiest story ever written: Shock-rock has-been Marilyn Manson is getting ready to release a new cash-grab record later this year, and I guess he wanted to create a documentary about the creation of the record. He probably though: "Who out there in Hollywood can out-douche me, the douche master?" And naturally, Shia LeBouf's name immediately came to mind. Shia is not just a terrible actor, he is also a terrible music video director, most notably for Cage (which featured a cameo from Sean of Hatebreed). So the two met up and then decided to work together. When Douche Worlds Collide. If this couldn't get any douchier, Shia recently explained how the two first met on Live with Regis & Kelly while promoting the latest crap Michael Bay took, Transformers: (more…)

Old tranny compares being in a rock band to the game Rock Band
MTV interviewed some haggard looking tranny, who took a few minutes out of her busy schedule of cosuming copious amounts of drugs and being completely boring live to explain the difference between being in a rock band and playing the game Rock Band:

METAL UP YOUR ASS: Metal Heads Are Everywhere I Go
At the Metal Injection Blog Factory, we are all preparing for our road trip to Worcester for the annual NEW ENGLAND METAL AND HARDCORE FESTIVAL. And by preparing, I mean doing mediocre research to interview bands and downloading old school hip hop to blast at 3am to piss of Rob and Frank. Oh, and getting my car checked out to make sure we have a smooth ride (yes, I know that is what she said). So at about 2pm I went to the local Express Lube place down the street from me. After telling the dude who was checking my car that I was going on a long trip and just wanted to make sure everything was safe to go, he confesses that he's a HUGE Sabbath and Venom fan. So I let him in on the new Heaven and Hell album and charges me $0. I win. Now you can read all the news you have missed and catch up on who is releasing new tunes. Click away. Click away.
Black metal's version of Hot or Not. Thanks to Jeanne Fury for initially finding this and then Metal Sucks for reblogging it.
Two days after NoiseCreep posted this feature, FACT vanflipped.
You can now pre-order the new Gwynbleidd album, "Nostalgia."
Landmine Marathon's Grace Perry blogged about bat wings and drunkenly telling off cab drivers.
Some Crust dude offered a metal history lesson last week. If you like or want to learn read this brief history of Sunn 0))).
Metal Sucks learned a lesson on Atheist versus Atheism. You can learn it too.
So secret shows are never really secret, unless–no its just never really a secret anymore. And in saying so, I'm going to blab about a secret show in Albuquerque. Get a preview of that show here.
Speaking of cool tour packages, every so often two tours are simultaneously traveling the U.S. And every not so often they cross the same city/venue on the same day. If you live in the Detroit area, you are one lucky metal head.
If you life in Philly or St. Paul you can meet Lamb of God.
new. Nachtmystium. ep. <--Proof that everyone is stoked.
Bodom's new setlist is as follows: 'Silent Night, Bodom Night', 'Hellhounds On My Trail', 'Living Dead Beat', 'Angels Don't Kill', 'COD / BBQ', 'In Your Face', 'Blooddrunk', 'Downfall'.
There is NO group therapy in this doc. NOCAREEVER! Sike. I can't not dig that they included Metallica's Moscow footage, but it does suck that there was barely a mention of the bassist situation. It goes from Burton to Newsted to Trujillo in a breathe, if that.
Hammerfall destroyed a hotel room. Read about it here.
An Emmure rumor is posted on Lambgoat.
News About New Releases
Darkest Hour. Municipal Waste. Marilyn Manson. Behemoth. Brutal Truth. Binary Code. Vader. Pestilence.
Maudlin of the Well is releasing their fan-funded album through a bit torrent. I'm fucking speechless.

Summer Festival Rumor Roundup (GIGANTOUR and MAYHEM FEST initial bands)
Well, its almost the beginning of the year which means we will be hearing a lot of rumors about this summer's festivals. This summer looks to be the busiest summer for metal festivals in quite a while. We know that we will see GIGANTOUR, MAYHEM FEST and the return of a touring OZZFEST. Also, the people behind SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND have said that they would return in 2009. While we have yet to hear anything about Ozzfest or Sounds of the Underground we have heard some rumblings from the other two fests.
First off on the Gigantour front, besides the obvious inclusion of headliners MEGADETH, the tour is also expected to feature AVENGED SEVENFOLD and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE.
On the Mayhem Fest front, it looks like next year's lineup will already be way bigger than what they had this year as it is rumored that the show will be headlined by MARILYN MANSON and SLAYER with TRIVIUM, CANNIBAL CORPSE and BEHEMOTH also rumored to be on the bill.
Overall, this means that there will be less awesome tours coming around the small VFW halls for $10 as all the bands will most likely be snatched up by a touring package that would cost you far more to see. But having Slayer and Manson on top of a festival bill with 10 or so other bands doesn't seem like that bad of a deal either! Please note, not of this is officially confirmed yet!

Wes Borland to play guitar for MARILYN MANSON
MARILYN MANSON announced at a recent press conference (video above) that former LIMP BIZKIT guitarist Wes Borland will be joining his band. Manson commented:
We have a new guitar player that's gonna play for the first time tomorrow; it's the first time we'll play on stage. His name is Wes Borland and he used to be in a really terrible band that he left because he felt that it was a destructive force in art, and he has his own band, BLACK LIGHT BURNS, but now he is in MARILYN MANSON. We don't know how permanent that is, but starting tomorrow will be the first step. So this will be the most indestructible MARILYN MANSON
Burn! Fred Durst couldn't be reached for comment as he was too busy with his head up his own ass. DOUBLE BURN!
