The Mayans were right! The world is ending. (more…)
The return of Marilyn Manson. No Reflection is taken from the new album 'Born Villain' released worldwide through Cooking Vinyl. Out April 30th (Worldwide) / May 1st (North America).
Talk about random casting! I was browsing through Corey Mitchell's excellent Sundance Film Festival preview on MetalSucks and the movie that completely caught me off guard was Wrong Cops, a short film starring Marilyn Manson playing a teenager! A teenager! Manson is 44. The pitch for the movie reads:
"Imagine a Los Angeles where crime is so low that a bored cop (Mark Burnham) sells drugs and harasses a teenager (Marilyn Manson) to pass the time."
The teaser is as weird as weird could be… (more…)
Marilyn Manson is not having the best time in Europe. A few weeks back, he did some karaoke in Sweden, and nobody seemed to care. It could be seen as a reflection of his career at the moment. Burn!
Anyway, things got way worse this weekend, when the shock rocker revealed he got into a "dangerous" fight. (more…)
Is it that time of year already? The time when we complain about how incredibly out of touch the Grammy voting committee is with their nominations? I guess it is! (more…)
I've always found the practice of naming such a strange and fascinating concept. Today more than ever we put such a huge importance on finding the right name for things be it a nick name, stage name, band name, or even a profile user name. I'm sure at some point in your life you've even thought about changing your own birth name to something cooler.
I started wondering about all the names in metal history we've come to know and love, who they started out as, and more importantly how their new names came to be. After several nights of research I was legitimately shocked to learn how many names in metal aren't birth names at all, this list barely even scratches the surface. But for the sake of keeping things interesting, I included only the names that had a back story I can write about.
In this piece, we will reveal the real identies of, and navigate the origins of Alice Cooper, King Diamond, Avengened Sevenfold, Korn, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, KISS, Nergal of Behemoth, Cronos of Venom and many more. (more…)
It's always exciting when two people with a lot of money get pissed at each other over very trivial circumstances. Such is the case with Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, who are both on a co-headlining tour currently, and things are not going swimmingly. Apparently, the two are dueling over set times. Oh, the tragedy! (more…)
When deciding on a name for his stage alter-ego, Brian Warner went with Marilyn Manson, which conveyed the two extremes of pop-culture in the '60s, Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. He took the 90s by storm, becoming a huge pop-culture figure in his own right… so much so, that he caught the attention of one of his namesakes.
A letter recently surfaced online on a Charles Manson fansite (I shit you not) of a letter sent to Marilyn in August, and it is creepy, scary and nonsensical all in one. Here is a scan of the letter, followed by a transcription: (more…)
There is no doubt that band tattoos are the ultimate sign of appreciation and loyalty for your favorite artists, it's like a band T-shirt you can't get off. I also have no doubt that metal heads are some of the most passionate group of music enthusiasts out there, so it came as no surprise that I could find thousands of band tats out there ranging from a tiny mark to a full sleeve. The only problem with this awesome combination is tattoo artists in the world are much like the bands themselves, some are good, some are simply amazing, and others… well here is a list of some of the others guys. This is quite the healthy tour package for modern hard rock fans. Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson have announced they are teaming up for the "Twins of Evil" tour, in North America and Europe. In the press release, Rob Zombie was quoted as saying "Finally! Why did the most obvious tour take so long to happen? Who knows? Who cares? It's happening now," and I couldn't say it better myself. It's happening, if you like one of the acts, you most certainly like the other. They will be joined by Korn's Jonathan Davis who will open the shows with a DJ set from his 'alter ego' J. Devil. It will be interesting to see who tops who in terms of stage production.
Here are the announced dates: (more…)
A Collection of Pro-Shot Live Videos from ROCK AM RING (METALLICA, LAMB OF GOD, MACHINE HEAD and more)
The thing I love about European mega-festivals is that since the amount of people that show up is so massive, they usually hire video production crews to film the action to show on large projectors so people miles back can see what is going on on stage. Sometimes, they even choose to broadcast that footage via a livestream. Rock AM Ring is one of those festivals. It all went down this weekend, so a ton of pro-shot, pro-audio footage has surfaced of Metallica, Lamb of God, Refused, Marilyn Manson, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Soundgarden, Motorhead and Cypress Hill. Let's take a look: (more…)
I've said it before, if you only follow one musician on Twitter, make it Randy Blythe, frontman of Lamb of God (@lambvox). The guy is constantly spitting out good knowledge. For example, Marilyn Manson's comeback album, Born Villain charted this week with about 40,000 records sold. This was Manson's first release that wasn't on a major label. He self-released it with a small vinyl label. Blythe used this to show why he thinks the music business is in the shitter. Here is his full rant: (more…)

Johnny Depp is no stranger to the rock world, being part owner at one point of LA Sunset Strip club, The Viper Room and even jamming with Alice Cooper recently. Now, he's taking his love of music one step further by collaborating with long-time friend Marilyn Manson for a track on the shock rocker's new album, Born Villian. The two recorded a cover of the Carly Simon classic "You're So Vein." Manson tells MTV that Depp playing drums and guitar on the track, while Manson also contributed guitar parts and sang the vocals. There is also a video in the works, which Manson said "will probably be us looking at each other like a mirror." I personally think Depp is one cool motherfucker, and despite my feelings on the underwhelming lead single from Born Villian, I am very interested in hearing this track. I'll get my chance when the album comes out May 1st (April 30th in the UK).
Marilyn Manson's new single "No Reflection" premiered on LA rock station KROQ yesterday, and it's…a Marilyn Manson song. Don't get me wrong, I used to love love LOVE Manson, and up until recently felt he was pretty prolific. But in the last few years, I've just been really bored with his output. He is far too into himself, and just nowhere near as provocative as he once was. Manson's new album, Born Villian is out on May 1st, 2012 and he will be the headliner at next month's Revolver Golden Gods Awards.
