DILLINGER's Ben Weinman Issues Update on Side-Project with MASTODON's Brent Hinds

Just to quickly recap, Giraffe Tongue Orchestra is highly anticipated side-project from Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds and Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman. They are collaborating with legendary Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery and drummer Jon Theodore, formerly of The Mars Volta. We haven't heard much about this project, since all the members were busy with touring, but now that touring has died down, looks like GTO is reactivated. Work Begins on DILLINGER / MASTODON / JANE'S ADDICTION / MARS VOLTA Side Project

It's safe to say we are really excited with what the minds of guitarist Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan), guitarist Brent Hinds (Mastodon), bassist Eric Avery (ex-Janes Addiction) and drummer Thomas Pridgen (ex-The Mars Volta) have in store for us. Weinman seems to be taking the lead on the project, as he and bassist Eric Avery have been jamming in his house and both he and Avery have been tweeting about the events. I can't wait to hear what these two are coming up with. Weinman has hinted that they are planning to release snippets as the project progresses. I think it's really cool that they are keeping everybody as in the loop as possible about this thing, as it develops without falling into the oversharing trap. You may recall we got really excited a few months ago when Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds revealed that he is working on a project with Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, former Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen and ex-Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery. We haven't heard much of anything since then about the project up until Ben Weinman issued a lengthy blog update on the Dillinger site, which shed some more light on the project. I really hate the term "supergroup." 99% of the time, it's just a group…nothing super about it. This group however, falls into that super 1%. Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds revealed to Noisecreep that he is teaming up with Dillinger Escape Plan shredder Ben Weinman, former Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen and ex-Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery.
