ZAKK WYLDE is over it
If you've been following this site for the last few months, you've seen our coverage of the Ozzy/Zakk Wylde split. To quickly recap, Ozzy kicked Zakk out and revealed so via a magazine interview. Zakk didn't even know. Then, two months of awkwardness lead to Gus G. being named the new guitarist. Zakk then proceeded to flip out in interviews, not once, but twice. It looks like cooler heads have prevailed, and Zakk is keeping a positive outlook on things. In a recent interview, he compared being kicked out of Ozzy's band to parents kicking a kid out of their house:
Well, I'll tell you how it went down. This is how it went down. Oz and mom (Sharon Osbourne), they said, 'Zakk, son, we need to talk to you.' They sat me down at the kitchen table and said, 'Zakk, we're very proud of you, but you're 42 years old now. We just think it's about time you take your wife and your kids and you get the fuck outta your bedroom and grow the fuck up and get a job — because me and your mother want to enjoy our life now. I think we've done enough. You're 42, now get the fuck out of the house!
Ok, I can sort of see how that makes sense in a weird way. Instead of getting wasted at home, do it on your own time Zakk! He later went on to shed some praise on his replacement saying Gus G is "fucking awesome. So I hope he has a millisecond of the good time I had — that's a fucking lifetime. Gus will have a fucking blast, you know what I mean?" Not really, Zakk but it's good to see you've come to terms with it and aren't just acting like a jealous girlfriend.

OZZY makes first public comments about dropping ZAKK WYLDE
Artisan News Services posted a brief clip where they got a few soundbites from Ozzy Osbourne. We've covered to death the whole deal with him unceremoniously kicking out Zakk Wylde via a magazine article, but now Ozzy has made his first public comments on the issue. If you thought it would be some sort of apology, you would be in the wrong:
"I haven't fallen out with Zakk; he's a very good… Our relationship goes way beyond music," Ozzy said. "I just wanted to… He's got his own thing now, he's got his own band, he's got his own career — he don't need me anymore." He added, "I've a got a guy, Gus G., a guy from Greece — not the musical, the country of Greece."
Hmm, that's funny, because I do recall a certain radio show interview that Zakk Wylde did where he seemed rather pissed. Oh, well. Sorry, Zakk.

GUS G. reveals the process of joining OZZY's band
In his first public interview since being installed as new guitarist of OZZY OSBOURNE's band, guitarist GUS G. (also of FIREWIND) spoke to the Greek version of Metal Hammer magazine about how he was approached about joining Ozzy's band, and it almost sounds like a 15 year old who has a crush on a girl:
I got a message on my MySpace page from Rob 'Blasko', Ozzy's bass player, asking me what was doing, if was living in America or not and saying that he wanted to talk to me. I never thought he'd want me for something like that [playing with Ozzy]. I initially thought that maybe he wanted to talk to me about doing a project or something and then he told me that one of Ozzfest's managers was looking for me. The manager said that they wanted me to fly out to Los Angeles immediately for a show that Ozzy was about to do in Anaheim, California.
Ozzy had to send his friend to ask first! And, via MySpace of course! But before Ozzy could make the plunge, he had to make sure his friends liked Gus: (more…)
Kelly Osbourne pretty much confirms Ozzy has a new band
Look, not that we don't know already. This is pretty much non-news, but Kelly Osbourne was quoted after Ozzy's Blizzcon performance pretty much confirming that Zakk is out.
It's great because it's the first time that this band has all played together — because there's a couple of new members. It's great to kind of — especially for my dad — to test it out on an audience like this that is so willing to have fun. it's great. . . It's fantastic. Sometimes it even shocks me that he still does what he does, but I guess when you're willing to do something, you're willing to do it.
Believe me, Kelly. It shocks all of us that he's still doing it. Anyway, this has been said before, but can somebody please make an official statement here? Or, like call Zakk Wylde maybe?

ZAKK WYLDE replaced by 9-year old in Ozzy's band? (Not really)
Ok, not really! But, BlizzCon happened and Ozzy performed without Zakk Wylde. Gus G was indeed playing the guitar, and he fucking nailed it. If you had your eyes closed, you would never know there was a new guitar player. Ozzy's camp has still yet to give an official word on Zakk's status in the band saying that the reason he couldn't appear at BlizzCon was because of other touring commitments, even though Zakk's been saying for the longest time that this would've been the next place he would've seen Ozzy. Meanwhile, Zakk spent the weekend in the hospital due to a blood clot. As my good friend Axl Rosenberg put it, "Sharon just won’t be happy until she kills someone, damn it." After the jump check out the remainder of the videos from Ozzy's Blizzcon appearance… (more…)

GUS G. playing with OZZY at BlizzCon; ZAKK WYLDE totally out of the picture?
We've been covering this whole Ozzy Osbourne/Zakk Wylde falling out for a while now and the hits clearly just keep on coming. All along, despite all the rumors of Ozzy replacing Zakk on the new CD with Gus G, Zakk's stance was this:
I'm doing Blizzcon with him in August and supposed to finish up the cd in September….this is news to me
Hmm, well it seems that even that is now inaccurate, as Blabbermouth reports that Randall Amps, Gus G's official amp sponsor is saying that HE in fact will be playing with Ozzy at BlizzCon this weekend, which I would presume means that Zakk won't be. All this, and I bet Zakk didn't even get a phone call yet. Or maybe he did get a phone call months ago, but was just so sloshed he totally forgot about it, creating this entire controversy out of nothing. Either way, this is certainly an interesting time in the Ozzy camp, and I am curious to see how Gus performs with the Prince of Darkness. I almost feel kind of bad for Gus because he's being thrown into this really awkward situation that he has no control over. Maybe the large piles of money he would be getting make it easier to sleep at night. Ya win some, ya lose some!

Is FIREWIND's Gus G. the new OZZY OSBOURNE Guitarist?
Metal Injection Interviews Firewind
Above you will find an interview that our resident Power Metal correspondant Mike conducted with FIREWIND last year. How is this related to Ozzy? Well, turns out the shorter dude in the interview may just be the new guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. Blabbermouth is speculating that Gus's first performance with the Iron Man will be at the upcoming BizCon which is news to (seemingly) former guitarist Zakk Wylde who thought that he was playing with Ozzy at the con.
Poor Zakk. Being left in the ditch without even a note or anything. It's actually pretty rude of Ozzy to put Zakk through all this shit without just giving the dude a phone call. Then again, based on some shit Zakk's been saying in radio interviews, maybe Ozzy doesn't even want to bother talking to the dude at the risk that he would flip out.
This is just getting more and more interesting as time passes. When we have any further developments, we will let you know.
