Viking metallers Ensiferum signed with Metal Blade Records before they killed them and pillaged their villages. (more…)
Paganfest came through NYC last week and Metal Injection photographer Rodrigo Fredes was there to capture Tyr, Ensiferum, Heidevolk, Helsott & Trollfest. Check out photos here.

When the New England Metal and Hardcore Fest announced their initial lineup a few weeks ago, it was already unfuckwithable. Anthrax (playing Among The Living), Opeth, Suicidal Tendencies, Hatebreed, Exodus, Shadows Fall…and others were already enough to get me excited.
Today, they announced the addition of a few new bands, including The Dillinger Escape Plan. (more…)
Get your tolerance up and your beer mugs ready because is Paganfest is getting ready for another round. Next year's lineup boasts Finland's Ensiferum, The Faroe Islands' Tyr, Heidevolk from The Netherlands and Trollfest from Norway, and Helsott.
The tour will kick off in March 2013, with full dates being posted soon. Check out Metal Injection's video coverage of previous Paganfests.
A loaded A/V roundup today. We got a new trailer for Nergal's autobiography, a Gojira lyric video, new music from Early Graves and Ensiferum and Shai Hulud live footage with Chad Gilbert. Let's begin:
Well, we took a week off here at The Weekly Injection, (and by that I mean, I took a week off, and only the new Cryptopsy came out last week, and they're all Unspoken King and gay like now so nobody cares, so I don't want to hear your shit), but now we're back and we're back big. For obvious starters: Devin Townsend's highly-anticipated Epicloud has finally been unleashed (and I apologize in advance for hating everything you love, but someone has to do it). And that's not all; check out equally anticipated releases from Ensiferum and Haarp, along with an utterly crushing surprise from Italian-metallers Ufomammut. Here are all the new releases coming out today: (more…)
From the chilly Scandinavian homeland which they draw their inspiration, Ensiferum sits atop the heap of modern folk-metal bands. Along with other genre standbys Tyr and Eluveitie, Ensiferum have built their reputation with heroic lyrics, power-metal riffs, and raspy guttural vocals. And while their new album fails to let the band grow out of this mold, longtime fans of the band and the genre will be very satisfied with Unsung Heroes. Ensiferum also strikes me as a band who feels confident in the skin (or should I say loincloth?) they've chosen to wear , and from what I remember when I saw them in 2008's Pagan Fest (part of that year's New England Metal and Hardcore Fest), it is a mantle they carry with pride. A/V Roundup: New music and album streams from EYEHATEGOD, ENSIFERUM, DYSRHYTHMIA, KATATONIA, BEHOLD THE ARCHETYPE, THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE
It's only Tuesday? I'm ready for the Labor Day weekend already. Luckily we have some new tunes, including a new teaser from EYEHATEGOD, a full album stream from Ensiferum and Katatonia, Dysrythmia and new music from Behold The Archetype and This Or The Apocalypse.
A new song teaser for EYEHATEGOD called 'New Orleans Is The New Vietnam' can be heard below. The track will be available as a 7" on the band's upcoming West Coast tour.
Do you know what you're going to be doing in February? Finntroll do! They will be touring all over North America with a killer lineup of support including Ensiferum, Barren Earth and sort-of-surprise-openers Rotten Sound. Rotten Sound back in the US! That is reason enough to get out to these shows. You will have to wait though, as the tour starts on January 31st. Here are the dates: (more…)
My fellow Americans, the time is coming for us to buy plane tickets, catch a boat or start swimming to France. That's right, industrial metal innovators GODFLESH (kids: that's JUSTIN BROADRICK's band before JESU) are reuniting for an appearance at this summer's Hellfest, set for June 18-20, 2010 in Clisson. Oh yeah, you'll also be getting THE FACELESS, NECROPHAGIST, IHSAHN, SICK OF IT ALL, ENSIFERUM, DECAPITATED and that band with two original KISS members. The full confirmed lineup thus far is after the jump, but first enjoy some bootleg footage of Godflesh destroying a small club with "Christbait Rising" back in 1990. You now have seven months to learn how to scream "Fuck yeah!" in French.
Move over Heathenfest, you have some competition this Fall/Winter. Just announced is a new tour featuring ENSIFERUM (above) along with HYPOCRISY, EX DEO, BLACKGUARD and the thrashing pirates in SWASHBUCKLE on some dates. Are you excited? Full dates after the jump… (more…)
