MASTODON's Troy Sanders Is Joining MAX CAVALERA's Supergroup with GREG PUCIATO

This supergroup just got more super. On the 100th edition of the Metal Injection Livecast, The Dillinger Escape Plan frontman Greg Puciato revealed exclusively to us that he and Soulfly's Max Cavalera are going to be collaborating on a project reminiscent of Cavalera's work in Nailbomb. We've written a lot about it in the past, and today we get another update and this one is huge!

Max Cavalera was recently interviewed and said that Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders has joined the project. (more…)

GIRAFFE TONGUE ORCHESTRA Is Back At Writing Tunes

One of the bright sides of stalking your idols on Facebook and Twitter is getting updates directly from the source. For example, if you follow Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, you have seen this photo of him and Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds getting the ball rolling on their highly anticipated project, Giraffe Tongue Orchestra.

The project also features legendary Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery and drummer Jon Theodore, formerly of The Mars Volta. Guess what? According to Brent Hinds Instagram, Mr. Theodore is also in the house. (more…)

DILLINGER's Ben Weinman Issues Update on Side-Project with MASTODON's Brent Hinds

Just to quickly recap, Giraffe Tongue Orchestra is highly anticipated side-project from Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds and Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman. They are collaborating with legendary Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery and drummer Jon Theodore, formerly of The Mars Volta. We haven't heard much about this project, since all the members were busy with touring, but now that touring has died down, looks like GTO is reactivated. SLIPKNOT Announce KnotFest; DEFTONES, LAMB OF GOD, DETHKLOK To Perform

Over the weekend, Slipknot teased a major announcement this morning with the accompanying graphic of a carival with Slipknot flags all over it. Today, they released an announcement. They will be curating the first ever KnotFest will take place on August 17th at the Mid-America Motorplex in Pacific Junction, Iowa and Saturday August 18th in Somerset, on the border of Wisconsin and Minnesota.

There will be circus big-top tents, pillars of fire, amusement park rides, burlesque performers, firebreathers, stilt walkers, drum circles made of junkyard cars and graffiti walls. A Slipknot museum will also be launched. Oh, and of course there will be music!  (more…)

SYSTEM OF A DOWN Invite Members of SLIPKNOT, DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Up To Jam

I don't understand how System Of A Down haven't played a New York date yet since their big reunion. I'm dying to see them again. They were one of my all-time favorites. Anyway, they played Australia over the weekend, and during those shows, The Dillinger Escape Plan were the opening act. I guess they got along pretty great because Ben Weinman was invited up on stage to jam on "Aerials." At the same show, Joey Jordison was in the building and he jammed out with the band on their classic  "Suite Pee." Thank the metal gods that there is bootleg footage of both performances.
