DEATH TO ALL Tour Returning In 2013; Human-Era Lineup To Tour The US
Well this is definitely great news. The Death To All tour, which pays tribute to late legendary vocalist and guitarist Chuck Shuldiner is coming back for another run in 2013. Last year, the first iteration of the tour visited a handful of stops with an all-star lineup of former members of Death, but was later plagued with drama surrounding the financials of the event, with some musicians not getting paid by the organizers, Sick Drummer, but now the tour is back on with Sick Drummer out of the picture. Here are the US dates: (more…)

CYNIC Offer Update On New Material
We haven't heard any updates from Cynic on their new album progression since February, so I guess the band thought it was time for an update. Earlier this year, they hinted that a new album would be out this year, but it turns out that might not be happening. The band has said that they have hit a huge bit of inspiration and are writing beyond an album's worth of new music and can't stop now. Here is their full update: (more…)

Album Review: THE CONTORTIONIST Intrinsic
In 2012, just about every new metal band clearly wants to prove to listeners that they know how to shred, blast, and groove simultaneously. Riffs often come and go too quickly, and atmosphere is cast aside for the need of musicians to prove their chops to the ever-judgmental metal world. While Indiana’s The Contortionist certainly set their standards of technicality high with their first full-length, Exoplanet, the band always maintained a strong sense of songwriting ability and memorable clean sections to help balance their otherwise brutal onslaught of post-deathcore breakdowns. CYNIC To Release New Material In 2012
It's no secret how much I admire the music that Cynic creates. Any reader of the site would know that. I was quite excited to learn last year that the band would have been putting out a new EP, Carbon Based Anatomy, and it ruled! While interviewing the band on the promotional cycle for the EP, they revealed that this EP was birthed out of their work on a full-length which they hoped to put out soon after. These guys were not lying, as in a recent interview, frontman Paul Masividal further elaborated on their upcoming release: (more…)
