Why You Do This is a new documentary created by Car_Bomb vocalist Michael Dafferner. It showcases his band's struggle with trying to earn a living by touring and playing music. The documentary covers several years of the band's touring, concluding with their first big tour with Gojira and The Chariot. Throughout the piece, Dafferner tries to dissect why he plays the type of music he does. The hour long documentary also features interviews with Randy Blythe from Lamb of God and Richard Christy of Charred Walls of the Damned among others. It's a good viewing for anybody interested in starting a band that goes out and tours as it shows the reality of the situation. Not every band explodes and is playing arenas from day one, there is a struggle, which is greatly documented in this piece.
For those that want to obtain a physical copy of the documentary, you can purchase Why You Do This for $10 bucks at http://www.whyyoudothis.com.

Heavy metal supergroup CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED have announced dates for a small tour from July 1-10. Led by legendary metal drummer Richard Christy (DEATH, ICED EARTH) and vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ICED EARTH) the band will be starting off In Chicago, IL and finishing up in style with DREAM THEATER in Worcester, MA.
This will be the band's first set of live performances. Rather than getting another band to open up for them, they'll be joined by comedian and THAT METAL SHOW co-host Don Jameson who will be opening the shows with some stand-up comedy. An interesting choice, but also intelligent because it draws in an entirely different crowd.
Unfortunately bassist Steve DiGiorgio and guitarist Jason Suecof won't be able to make the tour due to prior commitments, but John Comprix (BEYOND FEAR, RINGWORM) and Matt Sorg (RINGWORM) will be filling in on guitar while Dennis Hayes (BEYOND FEAR, ex-ICED EARTH) will be playing bass on the tour.
Full dates after the jump… (more…)
