CARCASS Finally Finishing Up Surgical Steel
After all the crappy trials and tribulations of the new Carcass record, Surgical Steel, it appears as though it's done! Or at least until something else catastrophic happens.

CARCASS Frontman Says Producer Quit To Go Mix The New TRIVIUM Album
Carcass frontman Jeff Walker is a notorious shit-stirrer, and at the band's first gig back last night with their new lineup (featuring drummer Dan Wilding from Trigger the Bloodshed and guitarist Ben Ash of Liquified Skeleton), Jeff had to address the recent mixing drama… (more…)

CARCASS Reveal Info About New Album
Comebacks can be scary, especially from legendary bands such as Carcass. What if it sucks? What if it's so bad that nobody goes to see them and Carcass fades into being the next Morbid Angel? Well, at least it's pretty comforting that the song names sound like they're directly off of Necroticism. (more…)

HEAVEN SHALL BURN Drummer Denies Being Part of CARCASS Reunion
At the tail end of last week, we got really excited at a rumor that was started that Carcass may be working on new material to release next year. The main point of interest of the story was that while there was to be new Carcass, the band needed a new drummer since their fill-in for the reunion tour, Daniel Erlandsson, was busy with Arch Enemy. The rumor was that the position would go to Heaven Shall Burn drummer Matthias Voigt. I guess nobody checked with Voigt, because he denies being a part of the project. (more…)

Is CARCASS Working On A New Album?
Legendary metal act Carcass reunited in 2008 and everybody who knew about the band went apeshit. They were one of the most named bands in our On The Record special on reunions. Naturally, the next question was would we hear music from the band?
When I interviewed guitarist Michael Ammot in 2010, he stated that while the band has talked about it, he was too focused on his current project Arch Enemy to work on new Carcass music.
So it seems the band is moving on without him. (more…)

The 39 Best Worst Metal Tattoos In History
There is no doubt that band tattoos are the ultimate sign of appreciation and loyalty for your favorite artists, it's like a band T-shirt you can't get off. I also have no doubt that metal heads are some of the most passionate group of music enthusiasts out there, so it came as no surprise that I could find thousands of band tats out there ranging from a tiny mark to a full sleeve. The only problem with this awesome combination is tattoo artists in the world are much like the bands themselves, some are good, some are simply amazing, and others… well here is a list of some of the others guys. CARCASS got name-checked on Friends?
Yesterday we posted an absurd clip of Genghis Tron being name checked on the soap opera, All My Children. When I posted the clip on our Facebook page, somebody pointed out this isn't the first time an extreme metal act got mentioned on a network TV show. A few years ago, Carcass got a shout out on Friends. Friggen hilarious! Another mention of the band on Friends after below. (more…)

Did ARSIS just break up?

Something fishy is going on in the ARSIS camp. It all started in December when it was announced that then-guitarist Ryan Knight would be joining the BLACK DAHLIA MURDER leaving us asking who would replace him? Time passed, then CARCASS announced they would be heading back on the road and ARSIS was attached to that lineup. Now, word comes in a few days ago that ARSIS had dropped off the bill. When ARSIS drummer David Kinkade issued an update, that is when I was positive something is up. Take a look at this excerpt:
"I do not feel that it is my place to go into specific reasons and/or details leading up to this decision, but being the drummer of ARSIS, it is in my best interest to NOT keep the fans in the dark. There are major personal and communication issues in this band that need be resolved before anything can continue as ARSIS. I will leave it at that. Again, my apologies to the fans, the other bands on the bill and everyone who worked so hard to put this together.
"Due to the situation, I am available for session/possible long-term drum work nationally and internationally.
Possible long term? Um, it's clear this dude is barely in the band anymore. Which begs the question, who, other than James Malone is left? Ultimately, this is the James Malone experience. He can (and has before) find any number of talented musicians to be what is essentially his backing band. I just hope they get their shit together sooner than later because the world needs ARSIS!
