HYPOCRISY's visas are cleared; they're officially coming back to the U.S.

HYPOCRISY have officially announced that their U.S. visas have finally been cleared. You will remember that they were supposed to be on tour last November with ENSIFERUM and even landed Alexi Laiho to come fill in on guitar for the tour and everybody got all excited. Then, the U.S. government was taking forever with their visa clearances, so the band had to cancel. Many months later, everything has been figured out and they are officially coming back to the States. The band has announced a May headlining tour featuring support from HATE, BLACKGUARD and SWASHBUCKLE. Here are the dates: (more…)

BLACKGUARD Vocalist Gives Some Advice To Underground Bands


Exclusive Interview with BLACKGUARD Vocalist Paul Ablaze

Our Pagan Fest coverage rolls on with a BLACKGUARD interview and live footage. We interviewed vocalist Paul Ablaze. If you don't know, his band won a Myspace contest that Nuclear Blast held which awarded them a record deal with the label. The band are no newcomers though, as they have been around the Montreal scene just as long as household names such as Despised Icon and Beneath the Massacre.

My favorite part of the interview is when I asked him if he had any advice for other bands looking to get a label's attention. His answer was somewhat a surprise and yet still pretty obvious. Check out the interview above and then two live clips we shot of the band here and here.

Paganfest 2009: Touring Pirates Aboard Crocodile Rock Planks

The day begun with Popeyes, a 2 hour drive to Allentown, PA and some interviews. Noa interviewed her favorite band Moonsorrow. Rob caught up with Swashbuckle in their stage uniforms, Blackguard with their [enter Canadian joke here] and Korpiklanni with their Smirnoff Ices. At showtime, Swashbuckle proved to have the funniest stage banter. Blackguard provoked a thunderous circle pit. Moonsorrow brought blood and nature-inspired atmospherics. Primordial generated pure darkness. And, the folkiest band of the night, Korpiklaani, ended the night.

Aww shit. It is with great honor, that we here at Metal Injection present to you ANOTHER killer tour we are sponsoring, the biggest shredfest of the Summer: SUMMER SLAUGHTER 2009. As revealed in our interview with Mohamed last year, NECROPHAGIST will be back headlining supporting their new release which is slated to come out in the summer, and co-headlining will be the death metal gods in SUFFOCATION. Also confirmed for the entire run of the tour will be DARKEST HOUR, WINDS OF PLAGUE, DYING FETUS, BORN OF OSIRIS, ORIGIN and AFTER THE BURIAL. On the first half of the tour, BENEATH THE MASSACRE and DECREPIT BIRTH will also be on the bill, with ENSIFERUM and BLACKGUARD taking over during the second half.
