Nergal's Blood Used To Paint The Cover of BEHEMOTH's The Satanist

Painting with blood seems to be all the rage nowadays. We've profiled the premiere blood-painter, Vincent Castiglia previously but now Behemoth is getting in on the blood art game. Frontman Nergal revealed recently that the cover of the band's forthcoming album, The Satanist will be painted with his blood.

Speaking to Australia's Heavy magazine, Nergal said of the painting:

"I wanted to incorporate some of my DNA into the art. This album seems to be so defining of who we are now as people and as individuals, and considering all the instances in recent years, [we wanted] to make it more 'ours' than it is usually.

"[The cover is] very arty; it's very artistic and it really has no heavy metal clichés in it. Expect something very special and spectacular, and deeper than all of the other products that are in the market."

Russian symbolist painter Denis Forkas will create the piece and Nergal added the blood will give it a more organic feel. Of course, the irony here is a few years ago Nergal was battling leukemia and was in dire need of a blood marrow transfusion. Nergal is up and at 'em and ready to put out the band's new album, which is scheduled for release in early 2014.
