Thrash's Big 4 to tour together?
Posted on September 3rd, 2009
File this under huge rumor. In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Kerry King yapped about the possibility of thrash's big four (that's METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX) could be touring together soon:
“I’ve heard people referencing Lars,” says King. “I don’t know Lars that well and I haven’t heard it from Lars but apparently he’s talking to somebody about it. Maybe us, Metallica, Megadeth (and), I think he even threw in Anthrax and I said in this day and age, I know we had that time together but how do you leave out Machine Head? There’s better options than Anthrax and that’s nothing against Anthrax, but they’ve just been in pieces for quite some time and that doesn’t make as much sense to me.”
Ok, as you can see, King is already talking shit on Anthrax. Besides that, I just NEVER EVER see this happening. Dave Mustaine hates Lars and Metallica with all his being. You expect him to actually open for them? Because that's the only way it would happen, with Metallica on top. And then, Slayer open for Megadeth? And Anthrax as the opener to the whole thing? Personally, I think there are far too many egos involved for any of this to happen. But, if there is some slight chance that this would happen, I will be first in line to check out the show!

Machine Head!? What a fucking chump. What about Testament, Exodus, Kreator, Voivod, Overkill ….get another Thrash veteran to complete the 4.
yea you're right, as awesome as it would be, too many damn egos for this to happen.
if this would fall through i think it'd end up like the Clash of the Titans tour of the 90s
If Metallica could open up for Guns N Roses, then anything is possible.
As far as Anthrax goes, personally I never thought of it as a "Big 4", more like a "Big 3". That said, I don't know if they are actually the most logical band to be "#4" but I think they are definitely the best known thrash band of that era and were (and probably still are) the biggest draw after those 3.
Of course Kerry King has to talk shit, I will always love Slayer but he is a huge asshole.
Anthrax w/ Joey B is my fav of the BIG 4 so I cant imagine them opening or any other one of those bands opening.
however, ive seen all those bands so it aint my problem lol.
Kerry King is a fat, bald bastard.
If this was a tour with Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell and Motorhead, and maybe even Saxon, It would still be difficult, but at least these people are friends, not like this big 4 of ego's
