Yesterday, everybody was shocked when Dave Lombardo announced he was sitting out the band's current Australian tour, bringing the count of original members on stage down to 1/2. You can read Lombardo's statement here, but basically it all came down to the money.

This is sort of unreal. Legendary guitarists Tony Iommi (he of Black Sabbath) and Brian May (he of Queen) have been quietly collaborating on a new project, with a unique twist. It's not exactly a new full-length album, but a gathering of riffs, that will be delivered to you to do with whatever you chose.

It's been a busy week for us behind the scenes at Metal Injection. We experienced some server downtime, and believe me, we're making massive changes to ensure this won't happen again, some of which you'll see rolled out next week. Otherwise, it was a big week for metal news, so let's recap the biggest stories [...]

Yesterday, Ozzy described the new album as "satanic blues", which many commenters assutetly summized: "so he's saying it sounds like a Black Sabbath record." Yes, indeed. Today, we get a video tease. The band is releasing what I assume is a [...]

Black Sabbath are notorious party animals, or were at least. The band has a song dedicated to marijuana and another one dedicated to cocaine. But 40 years of partying can catch up to anybody. With the band in their 60s, working on their new album, 13 due out this Spring, they are taking a different [...]

I dare you to look at that photo and not smile. If you don't, you are souless. Ozzy Osbourne spent some quality time with his granddaughter, Pearl, his son Jack's newborn daughter this past Thanksgiving, and photos have surfaced on Jack's wife's blog. And I don't know if it's because I'm getting older and my [...]

The writing process for this new Avenged Sevenfold album has certainly been unique. Frontman M. Shadows has compared the sound to classic Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, which is pretty bold of him to say. Then came the news that the band was giving old Pantera albums to their drummer as homework, which was questionable. [...]

Legendary metal act Carcass reunited in 2008 and everybody who knew about the band went apeshit. They were one of the most named bands in our On The Record special on reunions. Naturally, the next question was would we hear music from the band? When I interviewed guitarist Michael Ammot in 2010, he stated that while [...]
