Metal Injection

Yesterday, everybody was shocked when Dave Lombardo announced he was sitting out the band's current Australian tour, bringing the count of original members on stage down to 1/2. You can read Lombardo's statement here, but basically it all came down to the money.

This is sort of unreal. Legendary guitarists Tony Iommi (he of Black Sabbath) and Brian May (he of Queen) have been quietly collaborating on a new project, with a unique twist. It's not exactly a new full-length album, but a gathering of riffs, that will be delivered to you to do with whatever you chose.

It's been a busy week for us behind the scenes at Metal Injection. We experienced some server downtime, and believe me, we're making massive changes to ensure this won't happen again, some of which you'll see rolled out next week. Rolling Stone apparently cares about music again! They posted a very in-depth article on the upcoming Black Sabbath album, 13 and it features new tidbits of interest from the recording of the new record:

Black Sabbath have been recording their new album, tentatively titled 13, for the better part of the last few months. The band are currently working with session drummer and Rage Against The Machine skinman Brad Wilk. The latest word from bassist Geezer Butler? Over the weekend, on January 13th to be precise,  a press release arrived in my mailbox announcing that Black Sabbath have named their new album 13 and that the album is due in June. That wasn't the most interesting part of the press release.
