Yesterday, everybody was shocked when Dave Lombardo announced he was sitting out the band's current Australian tour, bringing the count of original members on stage down to 1/2. You can read Lombardo's statement here, but basically it all came down to the money.

This is sort of unreal. Legendary guitarists Tony Iommi (he of Black Sabbath) and Brian May (he of Queen) have been quietly collaborating on a new project, with a unique twist. It's not exactly a new full-length album, but a gathering of riffs, that will be delivered to you to do with whatever you chose.
It's been a busy week for us behind the scenes at Metal Injection. We experienced some server downtime, and believe me, we're making massive changes to ensure this won't happen again, some of which you'll see rolled out next week. Otherwise, it was a big week for metal news, so let's recap the biggest stories [...]
Yesterday Black Sabbath posted a teaser of a teaser for their new album, 13. Today, we get to see the full teaser.
Black Sabbath, such teases. Slowly, all this information is leaking out about the album. Yesterday, Ozzy described the new album as "satanic blues", which many commenters assutetly summized: "so he's saying it sounds like a Black Sabbath record." Yes, indeed. Today, we get a video tease. The band is releasing what I assume is a [...]
Rolling Stone apparently cares about music again! They posted a very in-depth article on the upcoming Black Sabbath album, 13 and it features new tidbits of interest from the recording of the new record:
Black Sabbath have been recording their new album, tentatively titled 13, for the better part of the last few months. The band are currently working with session drummer and Rage Against The Machine skinman Brad Wilk. The latest word from bassist Geezer Butler? The band is done recording and getting ready to mix the album.
Black Sabbath are notorious party animals, or were at least. The band has a song dedicated to marijuana and another one dedicated to cocaine. But 40 years of partying can catch up to anybody. With the band in their 60s, working on their new album, 13 due out this Spring, they are taking a different [...]
Over the weekend, on January 13th to be precise, a press release arrived in my mailbox announcing that Black Sabbath have named their new album 13 and that the album is due in June. That wasn't the most interesting part of the press release.
I dare you to look at that photo and not smile. If you don't, you are souless. Ozzy Osbourne spent some quality time with his granddaughter, Pearl, his son Jack's newborn daughter this past Thanksgiving, and photos have surfaced on Jack's wife's blog. And I don't know if it's because I'm getting older and my [...]
The writing process for this new Avenged Sevenfold album has certainly been unique. Frontman M. Shadows has compared the sound to classic Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, which is pretty bold of him to say. Then came the news that the band was giving old Pantera albums to their drummer as homework, which was questionable. [...]
Legendary metal act Carcass reunited in 2008 and everybody who knew about the band went apeshit. They were one of the most named bands in our On The Record special on reunions. Naturally, the next question was would we hear music from the band? When I interviewed guitarist Michael Ammot in 2010, he stated that while [...]
Avenged Sevenfold are keeping plenty busy nowadays. They just released a new track for the new Call Of Duty video game, and appear at the end of the game after the credits roll to boot. They are also working on a new album, which they previously compared to Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. The band [...]
At this point, if Black Sabbath as much as sneezes in the studio, we'll get excited and write about it. After getting an exclusive update a few weeks ago from Shangri La studios, where Sabbath is recording their new record, followed by official word from Tony Iommi elaborating on the process, we were stoked to see Geezer Butler was tracking [...]
…And the Black Sabbath recording process continues. A few weeks back, we got an exclusive update from Shangri La studios, where Sabbath is recording their new record, and a week later, official word from Tony Iommi elaborating on the process. We know they wrote 15 songs, and are pretty much finished with six of them. [...]
