DANZIG Interview About Comedy Becomes Unintentionally Hilarious

Danzig doesn't have a favorite joke.

Danzig doesn't have a favorite joke.

You may have heard that Glenn "Cleaning Up My Motherfuckin' Bricks" Danzig will be appearing on Portlandia on IFC tonight, a comedy show. A preview clip, released earlier this week, shows Danzig playing a Romanian beach dweller.

Rolling Stone writer Kory Grow, bless his heart, tried to interview Danzig about his interest in comedy and it lead to some great awkward moments such as:

Who was the funniest person in your family growing up?
I don't know. I don't think anyone in my family was funny.

And…

Do you have a favorite joke?
No.

OK.

These two bits genuinely made me laugh out loud. Danzig goes on to say he is more a fan of situational comedy than just jokes, citing Andy Kaufman's classic bit where he would invite a guest on his show and then Andy would be sitting in a chair 18 feet higher up than the guest to make him seem more important. All kidding aside, there is some great insight in this interview about how get got on Portlandia and his favorable opinion of Fred Armisen.

One last quote, about the Henry & Glenn Forever fan-fic comic that portrayed him and Henry Rollins as gay lovers:

Henry Rollins once said, "Glenn, I don't think, has a real wide berth for humor," with regard to the underground comic book Henry & Glenn Forever. That doesn't bother you?
No. But in that instance, I didn't think it was very funny. I thought it was a very crappy, opportunistic book. People are extremely stupid.

This from the guy who once said he would've played Wolverine "less gay" than Hugh Jackman.
