One of biggest stories of the week here at Metal Injection, statistically speaking, was our coverage of Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine saying that Barack Obama staged recent shootings in the U.S. to push a gun control policy. The story got picked up by many major media outlets including Grantland, HuffPo and TMZ.
Now comes the aftermath of his stupid comments.
TMZ, sensing blood, got a hold of one of the victims of the tragic Aurora, Colorado theater shooting, Carli Richards. This is the same shooting that Mustaine thinks Obama is responsible for and she was appalled at his comments, and (shocker) sounds more reasonable than Mustaine:
“Some people think the President is a good scapegoat but he didn’t shoot me,” Richards told TMZ. “It’s obviously kind of absurd and people who make up conspiracies just want attention,” then adding "It’s obviously kind of absurd and people who make up conspiracies just want attention."
"Everybody is emotional at this time and needs to blame somebody I guess. I don’t think they realize the consequences of not being responsible for your own actions and James Holmes needs to be held accountable for his, to whatever way the justice system deems fit."
Thanks, Carli. You're OK in my book. Also, Oderus Urungus, who famously recently requested that Mustaine just shut. the fuck. up. decided that such language was no longer necessary tweeting:
I don't need to berate Dave Mustaine to make him look like an asshole. He does fine just by opening his mouth. To say something as ignorant and insensitive as Obama "staged" the recent US mass shootings you would have to be…ME!
Naturally, due to all this attention, Dave isn't just going to sit and be quiet. He ran to his lunacy mentor, Alex Jones and InfoWars.com to "explain" what he actually meant. Jones had Mustaine on yesterday and released this video:
So basically, Mustaine is saying he's not crazy because he's just repeating what some other loon said on Fox News. Got it. Also, I love this whole conservative defense of "the liberal media is trying to censor our first and second amendment rights." No, it's just as much our right to call Mustaine a loon as it is his right to say that bullshit about Obama. Also, I love how Mustaine uses typical defenses like "being in the heat of the moment" and saying that he didn't mean Obama directly, staged it, but rather his administration. Do you even remember what you said? Your whole speech starts with "My president…" and then you made a puking gesture!!~! You obviously are talking about Obama.
And who gives a shit what some assclown Gun Owners Association nut said on Fox News? The reason that TMZ, Rolling Stone and everybody else isn't writing about what he said is because HE NEVER SOLD MILLIONS OF RECORDS LIKE YOU!! But don't worry Dave, with every story like this, you are just alienating more and more of your fanbase, and soon nobody will need to pay attention to what you're saying because nobody will care anymore.
