The winner was Ghost, with "Cirice." The band made it on stage to accept and told everybody to go and party. Watch their acceptance speech:

Ghost accept their Grammy for Best Metal Performance
Former MTV VJ Quaddus has no idea what's going on with Ghost.
The award was just presented during the non-televised portion of the Grammys and the winner was announced.
Slipknot were also nominated in the Best Rock Album category for .5: The Gray Chapter but lost out to Muse on that one.
Earlier this year, we interviewed The Recording Academy's Senior Vice President, Awards, Bill Freimuth, who said the Grammys made a bigger effort to get the nominees in the metal category right this year.
What [the rock community] requested specifically was a nominations review committee, which is something that is part of our process since 1989, so it's not new to the Academy, but new to the rock field this year. What that means is that the first ballot goes out to the general voting membership and they vote. Now, until this year, their top 5 vote-getters in all these categories have become the nominees. This year, with the institution of this new committee, our auditors don't give us the top five, they give us the top fifteen in the four categories of the rock field. This committee comes in and actually sits down and listens together to all of the top 15 in these categories and then they vote by secret ballot and narrow it down to the top five.

The Grammys are going on right now, we'll have more videos and coverage of all the metal musicians at the event tomorrow morning. A tribute to late Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister is scheduled with a performance by Alice Cooper and his group Hollywood Vampires, which also features Johnny Depp and Aerosmith's Joe Perry.
