You might recall, last October Varg Vikernes was arrested for allegedly inciting racial hatred and exalting war crimes due his numerous offensive blog postings. The drama began when his wife bought a few shotguns and the French government assumed he was planning a massacre.
Well today, everybody goes to court!
According to SBS, Varg is claiming innocence saying it wasn't him writing those entries but some poser… typical black metal guy.
Police allegedly found racist and anti-Semitic material on his computer as well.
"I did not write the things that appear in the summons," the Bergen-born musician told a Paris court.
Vikernes said a possible misunderstanding could have arisen because he communicated through a Danish interpreter when he was briefly held in custody last year.
The 10 excerpts are taken from articles written between March and June 2013 and attack Muslims and Jews.
Wait, so Varg didn't write the entries on his own blog? Seems a bit fishy.
Vikernes is facing a potential five years in jail and a €45,000 fine (roughly $61,000) if convicted. The verdict will be decided on July 8th.
