The most eclectic nominee list in a while

Wow, the 2019 iteration of the Grammy Awards definitely deserves a pat on the back for the most varied nominations for Best Metal Performance we've seen in ages. There are no weird covers of old songs, or Tenacious D to ruin it this year.  Just five solid songs.

Big names in the rock and metal world were nominated. Alice In Chains, Ghost, Bring Me The Horizon, Trivium, High on Fire and Deafheaven are among the nominees. The 2019 Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Here are all the relevant categories:

Best Metal Performance:
Between the Buried and Me – "Condemned to the Gallows"
Deafheaven – "Honeycomb"
High On Fire – "Electric Messiah"
Trivium – "Betrayer"
Underoath – "On My Teeth"
