Woah, this is really exciting. It seems as though the original lineup of Black Sabbath will be reuniting after all. The last we heard of these rumors was in February, when bassist Geezer Butler shot down rumors saying this was definitely not happening. Turns out he was lying!

According to Metal Talk, the band recently convened in a secret studio space to jam out the classics in preparation for an eventual tour. But that's not all, according to quotes Iommi gave to British newspaper, the Bimingham Mail, they're not only jamming oldies, they're actually writing new material! Ozzy and Iommi have been writing since June and are planning for a release next year:

"We’re really looking forward to it and I think the stuff we’ve been writing is really good," said 63-year-old Iommi. "It’s more back to the old original stuff. It’s all been very hush-hush. Ozzy's been the worst at trying to hold it back. He's doing a lot of TV and he’s being asked stuff about a reunion and he’s going 'well I never say never'. He told me, 'I don’t know what to say'."

Personally, I am a bit on the fence about a new Black Sabbath album. Their work in the 70s is unfuckwithable, they are legends, and those albums have still stood the test of time. I am just not sure how to could stand do something original, what the hell is left? Don't get me wrong, I will obviously still check it out, I just hope it doesn't suck. New album or not, if there is a Sabbath reunion tour, I'll gladly go to watch these old fossils bang out "Sweet Leaf" one more time.

UPDATE: Iommi just released a statement, saying this is all just speculation.
