Volbeat vocalist Michael Poulsen might usually do his best James Hetfield impression while fronting Volbeat, but the dude can also bring forth some heavy death metal. Poulsen used to front and play guitar for Dominus, whose albums ranged from straight-up death metal to groove metal between 1991 and 2000. Seriously, scroll down and listen to Dominus' 1992 album View To The Dim.

Poulsen tells Heavy TV that he'd really like to get back to that sound at some point.

"Right now, it's all Volbeat songs. I do have things at home — I can pick up some few death metal riffs here and there. I've got so many good friends in the death metal scene, and I've been talking to some of them to one day, when the time is right, sit down and write some old-school death metal. When that's going to happen, I don't know. It will happen; it's just timing is everything. But so far, I'm concentrating on writing those new songs for Volbeat."

Some of Poulsen's good friends in the metal scene include guests on Volbeat's albums such as King Diamond, Napalm Death frontman Barney Greenway, ex-Mercyful Fate guitarist Michael Denner, and Kreator guitarist and vocalist Mille Petrozza.
