SLIPKNOT Looks To Influences Like NEUROSIS And NINE INCH NAILS For Its New Album

At least there's talk of a new record at all.

At least there's talk of a new record at all.

A new Slipknot record is much like a new Behemoth record, conceptually – it'll happen when it's supposed to happen, if it's going to happen at all. Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor recently spoke to Rolling Stone about the possibility of a new record, and he gave some pretty interesting quotes regarding how the band is currently approaching thinking about a new record.

Taylor cites bands like Neurosis and Nine Inch Nails as favorites of the group, and he hopes to wear those influences on the band's sleeve, as long as it sounds good.

"We're trying to think of where we can go musically that still has the soul of what we're trying to say, what we're trying to do, how we're trying to help people evolve with their lives. So it's one of those things that we're kind of looking to our influences now. 'Cause we loved everything from old-school thrash to bands like Neurosis, Nine Inch Nails, you know, and [we're] just trying to kind of take stock of wearing our influences a little more on our sleeve and seeing where that will take us."

At this point in Slipknot's career, I'd imagine it could just do shows, never put out a new record again, and do financially fantastic. So maybe the new record could be super far out there? We'll see!

Slipknot will have plenty of time to brainstorm because they'll be on the road together all summer on a co-headlining tour with Marilyn Manson. After that wraps, the band is teaming up with Black Sabbath for a Ozzfest Meets Knotfest weekend festival.
