TOOL Allegedly Only Happy With Five Songs, Even Though They Have Two Albums Worth of Material

A fan who attended one of the VIP meet and greets filed a report.

Here we go with another Tool update. Earlier this year, Tool they are grinding away on the album four days a week, and that the shortest song is 12 minutes long.

Tool bassist Justin Chancellor said that the album "is in the oven" and that "it's cooking," adding that it will be awesome. Meshuggah guitarist Mårten Hagström, who has heard the album, confirmed that it will be awesome by saying "it's the best he heard of Tool." While people who have heard the demos seem to enjoy it, it seems like the band themselves are still not too excited about most of the material.

As we've previously mentioned, Tool is doing VIP meet and greets, and one fan who allegedly attended, offered the following update in a Reddit thread (since deleted):

“I learned a lot of insight about the band from the Q&A with Adam. There was 150 of us in a room with him and it felt very personable. He played for us, talked about he and Justin play off each other to create a 5/7 rhythm. Played a riff that’ll be on the new album. Said they had enough music for two albums but only 5 meet their (tools) standard right now. Adam, Justin and Danny are in the studio 1PM-4PMish I think he said Tuesday-Thursday. Once 90% of the instrumentals are there Maynard comes into write (that’s how Maynard likes to work).”

Of course this is to be taken with a grain of salt, however the reader did provide some verification that he actually attended, namely a photo of his VIP goodie bag. You might recall, the last time there was a rumor, it was quickly debunked. But the story seems like it makes sense based on other things we've heard and we thought we would pass it along.
