SLIPKNOT Might Turn Knotfest Into A Traveling Tour In The Future

Corey Taylor says the touring idea is still in its infancy and may not be a yearly thing.

Slipknot frontman and Internet favorite Corey Taylor recently guested on Jamey Jasta's Jasta Show and revealed that the band's Knotfest festival may or may not become a touring entity in the future. Knotfest originally appeared in 2012 and was resurrected in 2014 in both California in Japan. The festival has since existed in various incarnations, one of which is Knotfest Meets Ozzfest, which took place in both 2017 and 2018.

Taylor says the touring idea is still in its infancy and may not be a yearly thing.

"It’s definitely something we’re thinking about and it’s one of the reasons why we built it the way we have. For us it was about the foundation of the brand itself. It was making sure that this was something that we could continue to build up. You don’t want to go from zero to a million."

"So, it’s something that we’re definitely thinking about – certain spots in America – making Knotfest dates. And – this is important – we’re not afraid to take it away for a year and then bring it back. That’s what people don’t understand. It’s not completely gone, because we’re doing the one in Colombia. But, it doesn’t have to be a yearly thing. Do it one country one year, do it in a couple other countries the next year. It doesn’t have to be something like that so you’re constantly, constantly stabilizing your brand and making money and doing something cool."

Slipknot is also working on having a haunted house in Iowa this year, as well as a new record in 2019. So there's a lot of Slipknot stuff coming up.
