We're starting to believe that a new Tool album just might come out this year.
Of course the main confirmation came from Tool drummer Danny Carey, who in a recent interview said very frankly "It’ll be out in 2018.”
He went one step further in an interview with Loudwire to say "Yes. I’m saying definitely. We’ll probably have it done in the first half [of the year] if things go as planned. There’s setup times and manufacturing – I can never predict all that, it seems like it’s constantly evolving. [What time of year it will be out] I can’t tell you."
Tool have said they were 90% done with the album in the summer going to be entering the studio this past autumn, and in the past Carey has he hoped that the band would be releasing the album "pretty soon," and we got our hopes up when we learned Maynard has begun working on vocals, typically the last step before completely being done with recording. It seems the band has completed recording the album.
Even Tom Morello has heard some new songs and praised them heavily.
This weekend, we got more confirmation, from perhaps an unusual source – the wife of Tool guitarist Adam Jones, Korin Jones. Multiple Metal Injection junkies have sent in a link to a recent Instagram post by Mrs. Jones where she, herself, is teasing a new album for those who are patient, writing in a caption "Lots of good things to come, and you’ve been so patient. are you ready? ❤️? #anticipation #proudwife #2018ishere"
