The biggest story coming out of last week's CBGB Festival, was the unfortunate stabbing by founding Cro-Mags bassist Harly Flanagan of current bassist, and NY hardcore scene mainstay, Mike "The Gook" Couls. Quick sidebar: Only in the hardcore scene, can a racial slur be considered a nickname, and be endearing.
Anyway, while Flanagan says he acted in self-defense, he ultimately sent Couls, who has no medical insurance, to the hospital. Couls will make a full recovery, but his wallet won't.
