Phil Anselmo "Feels Bad" For Vinnie Paul

VinniePaul-PhilAnselmo

Oh, not again.

Phil Anselmo and Vinnie Paul will seemingly never reconcile, and it seems like Anselmo isn't helping matters. Vinnie Paul has said on numerous occasions that he will never reconcile and when Phil is saying things like Vinnie is "fucking terrified" of him, it surely isn't helping.

In a new interview with Revolver Magazine, Phil seemingly makes matters worse.

While discussing his reconnecting with producer Sterling Winfield, who worked on Pantera's 2000 release, Reinventing The Steel, the topic of Vinnie Paul came up:

"I didn't know there was a rift between Sterling and I until I spoke with him several months ago. He chose sides at one point, and picked Vinnie Paul's side, which is a psychotic side."

He continued: "I feel bad for Vince. People should pity the guy. I wasn't there when Dimebag was murdered, but he sure as fuck was. That's his flesh and blood, murdered right in front of him. It's a shame that Vince never reached out to Rex and I. I think the healing process would have been beneficial to him, instead of his knee-jerk reaction to fear, and his therapy through tit bars and whiskey."

Why even bring up Vinnie Paul? I don't get it. When asked about the Pantera break up, while Phil wasn't ready to take all the blame, he did put a lot of it on himself:

"One guy can't break up a band. After we broke up, why was Rex with me and not with Dimebag and Vince? You have to understand, it goes all four ways when a band breaks up. Yes, I made mistakes. Yes, there was a lack of communication on both sides and some of it is my fault — a lot of it is my fault."

Regardless of any talk in the media, it's safe to say, we won't be seeing Phil and Vinnie in the same room anytime soon.

This is depressing. Most of us will never know the true back story, but I hate reading about this time and time again. I dont want Pantera to be put into the same basket as guns and roses where too much Pride and the inability to forgive keeps a good band from becoming even greater.

I dont think Dime would want Pantera to die… he loved that band. The rumors of Zach Wylde filling his spot got me excited.. its not the same.. but If dime was still alive and was to see it. He would be up on stage rocking out with them.

I spoke to Rita myself at Mayhem Festival STL 2012, and she clearly stated to me that there WILL NOT BE A PANTERA REUNION. She also clearly stated that there would be no "reunion" because there is no Dime. It would be called a "celebration" if anything. She also said that Zakk Wylde has admitted to her out of a late night drunk bonding moment "I just can't do it… Every time I pick up and try to play Dime's riffs… I just can't do it." So lets lets cut the chat about a "Pantera Celebration" because it's not going to happen. Period. Rita also stated that she "Forgave Phillip, and Vincent is never going to do the same". There you have it folks, straight from Rita herself. This is the way it's going to be so you might as well come to terms with the present situation because it's not going to change.

No Shit Zakk Wylde can't do it. He isn;t that good of a guitarists. Superbly overrated. Jon Donais or Ola Englund would be a much better fit.

They need to grow up and move on! How can dime r.i.p when his brother and and good friend of a better part of a decade be fighting about shit that happened 10 years ago! Let it go for dime! They don't need to be best friends but they shouldn't be fighting anymore! And maybe one day we could have a pantera re-something! No disrespect to zakk wylde but there can never be a pantera reunion anything…

I'd be pissed off too. These guys had the WORLD by the fuckin BALLS and they let dumb shit come between them and their glory. Phil understands that now, Vinnie can't even talk about it without getting pissed off….

We dont need a Pantera reunion. Their golden age was 20 years ago. I just wish people could move on and stop dwelling on this. I dont want to see a reunion, and every time I hear Phil Anselmo or Vinnie Paul make comments, I cringe at old guys reliving old achievements and riding the coat tails of Dime all the way to the bank. Have some dignity and stop it
