PERIPHERY Release April Fool's Gag Song Which Still Sounds Pretty Damn Good

Tool had a great April Fool's but I think Periphery may have won this year. The band released a song named "Beta" and it basically takes all the criticisms against Periphery and turn them on their head.

"We have been reading all of y'alls wonderful comments and criticisms and wrote this song based off of what you guys wanted, so keep those comments coming!" – the description of the video read. The song itself sounds like the best version of Attila or Emmure of 50 other djent bands you could ever expect, complete with cookie monster vocals and posturing. Basically, everything Periphery is not. While the song is a joke, guess what? The riff is actually infectiously catchy and somehow, it ends up being a fun song? Take a listen.

Somewhere between djent and nu-djent, with a little Static-X vibe at around 1:45. It's bad, but it's good. It looks like vocalist Spencer Sotelo didn't even contribute vocals to the recording of the track as he jokingly announced he was leaving the band:

All kidding aside, Periphery is working on their fourth release right now, and we've heard about 20 seconds of new music.
