PANOPTICON to Perform Live at Migration Fest

This will be the first time ever that the black metal maestro is performing his brilliant music live.

This will be the first time ever that the black metal maestro is performing his brilliant music live.

The one-man black metal wizard, Austin Lunn has been making masterful atmospheric music under the moniker of Panopticon for almost ten years now. During his early recordings up until his fantastic 2012 Kentucky, Lunn was known for creating albums that featured an Appalachian atmosphere as he incorporated elements of folk music of his hometown into his black metal. His most recent albums, last year's amazing Autumn Eternal and 2014's Roads to the North started to venture away from the folk inspirations as Lunn's personal life changed. Lunn has historically led a very private life. He rarely does interviews, he has never performed live publicly, and focuses a lot of his time on his Minnesota brewery, Hammerheart Brewing Company.

Recently; the inaugural Migration Fest was announced by the guys who run prominent underground metal labels, 20 Buck Spin and Gilead Media. The festival is set to take place in Olympia, Washington on August 12-14. The lineup already featured incredible acts like Krallice, a rare live collaboration between The Body and Krieg, and Obsequiae. In addition to an already exciting lineup, it was announced yesterday that Panopticon would be doing his first ever public live performance at the festival as well. Lunn will be performing his album, On the Subject of Mortality, in its entirety. Lunn is hoping to bring his personal favorite recording some justice by bringing an improved sound to his completely handmade release.

This is an incredibly momentous occasion for anyone who is remotely a fan of black metal. Panopticon is an important figure in metal and to finally have an opportunity to see him operate live should have everyone lining up to buy tickets to Migration Fest. Early bird tickets go on sale February 16th. Keep an eye out for details on the festival's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or official website.
