One Of The New York Rangers Roadied For FAITH NO MORE Recently

Now Mike Patton will play for the Rangers.

I think hockey is inherently a pretty metal sport and over the past few years, we've been convinced of it for sure! Like one goalie having an In Flames mask on the ice, another paying tribute to Black Sabbath or Amon Amarth and Enslaved hitting up a game while they were in the country.

This time we've got some off-the-ice news! New York Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle talked to the New York Post a little bit about being a roadie for Faith No More for a few recent gigs. He said being a roadie is definitely a thankless job, but still worth it!

“As silly as it sounds, it was an amazing experience,” says Boyle of his gig, which took him to DC, Philly, Boston and NYC. “[Being a roadie is] a thankless job, but an important job. It’s not that different from what [the Rangers’] trainers do for us!” Duties included toting instruments, setting up the stage, and dispensing VIP tickets.

He also touches on being a huge fan and knowing Faith No More prior to the experience.

“They were my favorite band growing up,” Boyle recalls. “I told [the team’s] p.r. guy, ‘I don‘t care if I have to stand in the top corner of the venue, get me in there.’’’ He ended up becoming close pals with singer Mike Patton and the other Faith No More guys, who are living one of his dreams.

“If I wasn’t a hockey player, I’d be the lead singer of a band,” Boyle explains.

We need more hockey-meets-metal news. These guys seem to have pretty good taste in music!
