Bury Your Dead Minus 1

BURY YOUR DEAD vocalist Mat Buso has left the band to pursue a degree for teaching and to be with his wife. Not very metal, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. The band is currently seeking a replacement.

Brutal Montreal hardcore-grinders DESPISED ICON have entered the studio to start laying down tracks for their new album due late spring/early summer via Century Media Records. The CD is being produced by the group's former guitarist, Yannick St-Amand, and will be mixed by Andy Sneap (ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE, MEGADETH) at his Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, England.

As we previously reported, MESHUGGAH are recording a new album, which the band told REVOLVER Magazine will be a throw back to the crushing songs of their early albums, and stray away from the methods on their previous effort Catch 33. "We've got some fast, intense songs and hectic, heavy stuff that draws from all the things we've done in the past," says drummer Tomas Haake. "It's so great to actually be playing drums again." The band members started writing this past August and currently have three tracks completed without vocals and parts in place for 10 more tunes. The goal is to finish by March, in time for a May release. To some extent, the tone of the music was motivated by the four months MESHUGGAH spent last year rerecording guitars for the Halloween rerelease of their 2002 album, "Nothing". "It was great to revisit that super-heavy stuff," Haake tells Revolver. "While we were doing it, we found new ways of playing guitar that give the music a really scary tone. That's going to make this record sound more brutal."

DARKEST HOUR will begin pre-production of February 19th with metal genius DEVIN TOWNSEAD at the production helm. The band will travel to Vancover, British Columbia to record in Devin's studio for an expected summer release through Victory Records.

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD guitarist Jed Simon has put up a few demos of his side project TENET on the band's MySpace page. TENET also features STRAPPING YOUNG LAD/ex-DEATH drummer Gene Hoglan and SACRIFICE frontman Rob Urbinati. The album is due later this year via Century Media Records.
