Late last month we reported that Napalm Death was in the studio, which wasn't entirely untrue. Frontman Barney Greenway tells Sticks For Stones that both drummer Danny Herrera and bassist Shane Embury were absolutely in the studio for Napalm Death, though they're just laying down some preliminary ideas for the new album.
Greenway says he hasn't even heard the demos for the new stuff yet, and Napalm Death won't release a new album until "probably 'till later next year."
"This is one of the, I say, problems in small letters with social media sometimes. As soon as you put a post like that, people just kind of think — understandably so — that you've got a [bunch] of new songs ready to go. Well, we haven't. It's very preliminary stages. I mean, basically, we're at the point where Shane went into the studio with Danny and basically laid a load of stuff down that he'd been thinking of doing. So there may be some material that never sees the light of day. I just don't know, 'cause I haven't actually heard it yet. I've got the stuff, but I haven't actually sat down and listened to it yet. So there's nothing approaching any complete songs. And the reality is that it won't even surface probably till later next year, I would have thought. So it's gonna be a while yet."
