MORTALS Give You A "View From The Tower"

Last April, Brooklyn metal trio Mortals announced they'd signed a deal with Relapse Records to release their debut LP. Now, as the albums's July 8 release date looms ever closer, the band have given the world its first taste of Cursed To See the Future.

The opening track to the album, titled "View From a Tower," is equal parts swagger and fury. There are definite shades of blackened sludge here, but there's also a punk rock energy that infuses the track with urgency. Genre nerds could spend hours arguing over Mortals' various and sundry influences, but the rest of you should simply rest assured that "View From the Tower" is a ravenous blast of heavy metal thunder. There are no keyboards, geeky time signature acrobatics,  or fancy production tricks here; just raspy howls and groovy riffs.

In support of Cursed To See the FutureMortals will be touring throughout the summer. The North American jaunt begins on July 18th at The Acheron in Brooklyn, NY and creeps it's way across the States and a smidgen of Canada until it wraps up on August 3rd in Pittsburgh. Below you'll find a complete list of dates and venues for the tour. You can also pre-order the album through Relapse here.
