More Clean Vocals Are Likely For LAMB OF GOD According to Bassist

Gotta vary it up, right?

Gotta vary it up, right?

Up to 2015's VII: Sturm und Drang, Lamb Of God was seven albums deep into its career. Eight if you're counting Burn The Priest's self-titled 1999 album. So naturally, vocalist Randall Blythe decided to change things up a bit after screaming for so long and incorporate clean vocals into the mix.

Lamb Of God is currently on hiatus and possibly working on some new music. New music that bassist John Campbell tells The Salt Lake Tribune fans shouldn't be terribly shocked if it has more clean vocals.

When asked if more Lamb of God songs down the road might also feature clean vocals, Campbell replied, "There is no telling, but I would imagine yes, probably." While acknowledging that some longtime fans accustomed to the band’s rougher edges might be disinclined to like that material, he said such songs’ potential to help the band continue to grow cannot be ignored.

"I think some people still have a hard time with [it]. But we’re always trying to evolve and come up with new ways to present heavy music," Campbell said. "Not that it gets boring, but, you know, we don’t want to go out there and play the same songs every night, or play the same set and have every song be exactly the same. It’s nice to have some different emotions, some different dynamics to the set."

Sure, some bands stick to their sound forever and have no real intention of switching things up, but Lamb Of God in both incarnations has been around for over 20 years at this point. So changing things up is almost inevitable, right?
