Whatever you're listening to, pause it for a minute and listen to Sect. The band consists of vocalist Chris Colohan (Cursed), guitarist James Chang (ex-Catharsis), guitarist Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis), bassist Ian Edwards (Earth Crisis), and drummer Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy). Before you wonder what the hell Hurley is doing in a band like this, take note that the dude played in The Damned Things with members of Anthrax and Every Time I Die, drummed for Enabler briefly, and drummed in a lot of hardcore bands in the 90s before joining Fall Out Boy.
He's also drumming in Sect, and according to the three songs Noisey posted from the group, Hurley and the gang have got some serious fucking anger (and chops). Sect will be releasing its self-titled debut 12" on July 29 via Deathwish, and you can and should pre-order that right here. It reminds me a little bit of Trap Them, with all the feedback and shorter, pissed-off jams.
