Media Tries To Link METALLICA Song To Man's Gruesome Murder of Family

There is currently a media frenzy around Chris Watts, a man who admitted to gruesomely murdering his family. Some outlets are now trying to link the murder to Metallica because Watts Googled the lyrics to "Battery" after committing his heinous acts.

CBS4 Denver explains what happened.

Watts killed his wife, Shanann and their two daughters, Bella and Celeste in August. He pleaded for their safe return, but was arrested days later.

On Nov. 6, Watts pleaded guilty to the nine charges he faced, including five counts of first-degree murder. In addition to the murder charges for Shanann and his daughters, he also pleaded guilty to two counts of murdering a child, one count of unlawful termination of a pregnancy and three counts of tampering with a deceased human body.

The news station obtained the entire police report, which included this detail:

1010 hours: during a respite following the murder of his family, and disposing of their bodies at a desolate well site, Watts searched Google for the lyrics to “Battery”

Media Tries To Link METALLICA Song To Man's Gruesome Murder of Family

Chris Watts‘ pregnant wife and two young daughters had been dead only a few hours when — in the brief window between murdering them and coming under the suspicion of police — he reportedly took the time to look up the lyrics to a Metallica song.

The song he Googled was “Battery,” according to local TV station KCNC. The track contains lyrics such as “Smashing through the boundaries, lunacy has found me” and “Pounding out aggression, turns into obsession/Cannot kill the battery/Cannot kill the family.”

The full context of his morbid search is unclear, but it was disclosed in a bevvy of investigative documents.

What Googling a song had anything to with what this idiot did, I have no idea.

Metallica have not yet commented on the situation.
