Metal Injection

Jason Newsted is not messing around. A few weeks ago, he announced the launch of his new band, named after himself, Newsted. After releasing some rehearsal footage, Newsted now has let it out that his new project has almost completed a full album.

A recent posting on his Facebook page states:

"I want y'all to know that I am ultra-proud of my time in Metallica… I am thankful for the wonderful experiences of our 15 years together and I will always be open to jammin' with the boys… I am very happy in my life now! I have a new band that bears my own name, we're just finishing our first record, I'm feeling strong again playing bass and singing lead vocals and you all wiil be hearing it in one month's time!!!! New year, new band, new life!! Bless you all and I can't wait to share my music with everyone!! I'm entrusting all of my friends to help me get the word out!!! Jason's back!"

Additionally, earlier today, Newstead released the below studio update, where he says a whole NEW batch of songs is about to be recorded, along with a new teaser, which almost resembles Load/Reload-era Metallica, or is that just me?

Could we be kicking off 2013 with new music from Newsted? We'll keep you posted when we hear more.
