HIGH ON FIRE Is Done Recording A New Album With Kurt Ballou
That's a wrap on the newest on High On Fire album! The band's follow-up to their 2015 record Luminiferous was recorded at God City Studios in Salem, MA with Converge's Kurt Ballou and is due out sometime later this year. Drummer for the band Des Kensel says the faster songs on this record are definitely faster than the old stuff, and the slow stuff is still the slow stuff.
"We are pretty happy with how the new material came together on this one. We usually go into the studio with about two-thirds of the record done which can be a little stressful but it forces us to make final arrangement decisions which would normally be put off in a rehearsal studio atmosphere. It also puts some pressure on us to perform at a higher level. The bar has definitely been raised on this one, at least for me. There’s a good mix of fast and slow. The fast has gotten faster and the slow is…still slow."
High On Fire is set to play Psycho Las Vegas this year, where I'd assume you'll be able to hear some of the new music.
