The Grammys Announce Nominations For Best Hard Rock & Metal Performances.

The nominees for the 2011 Grammy Awards were announced and yet again the nominees for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Metal Performance couldn't be more predictable. It's as if the voters looked at the lists of eligable entrants and picked the first five names they recognized in each category. Here are the nominees:

Best Hard Rock Performance
Alice In Chains - "A Looking In View" (Black Gives Way to Blue)
Ozzy Osbourne – "Let Me Hear You Scream" (Scream)
Soundgarden – "Black Rain" (Telephantasm)
Stone Temple Pilots – "Between The Lines" (Stone Temple Pilots)
Them Crooked Vultures – "New Fang" (Them Crooked Vultures)

Best Metal Performance
Iron Maiden – "El Dorado" (The Final Frontier)
Korn – "Let The Guilt Go" (Korn III: Remember Who You Are)
Lamb of God - "In Your Words" (Wrath)
Megadeth – "Sudden Death" (Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock)
Slayer – "World Painted Blood" (World Painted Blood)

I'm sure all the bands are honored to be nominated, but really this means very little to nothing to their careers, other than a pat on the back from people who most likely could give a shit about the music they play. So good luck to all parties involved, I'm sure you could all use a good paperweight.

    Korn? Really? Wow…..

And El Dorado made the list? Shit, IMO, that was one of the worst songs on that album. It's like they just took the singles of all the bands they recognized and tossed up their. I wouldn't be surprised if the voters haven't even heard those songs before.

Glad to see Lamb of God on their though.

Dude, only singles get nominated, it's been like that forever, in any awards show. Though I agree, El Dorado is definitely the worst song on the album, but that doesn't mean it's a bad song. It none the less is the single, and was picked to represent the album. Either way I'm glad to see Maiden get recognition in the States, they NO DOUBT deserve it.

I know little about the Grammys cause lets face it…..it sucks to begin with. I agree with you with Iron Maiden, but I personally can't stand the song. I hope Maiden get's it but really, it don't matter.
Surprised to see Metallica didn't make the list. Guess Lar's didn't suck the right cocks!!

What a snoozer of a list. Diamond Eyes ftw.

    lame…
how about death metal awards eh ?

No one song here is worth voting for, but if I had to choose it would be "Sudden Death", if only because I would love to hear Dave Mustaine's acceptance speech.

  • h3llhammer

    stop giving Slayer grammy nominations

Hoping Chains or Soundgarden wins the hard rock category, but seriously but that Gary Glitter song (shit! I meant Ozzy..my B…) is going to win it. Obviously (insert fart sound here)

But the metal category seems to be a mixed bag. You've got a well-established old-school heavy metal band that everyone knows, Nu-metal patriarchs who stopped giving a shit about making quality music after 1997, an incredibly popular current-sounding band with a disgustingly huge following, & 2 of the BIG 4('nuff said).

Me personally, I'm going with crueslayer878 on this one. Dave's acceptance speech would be the most hilariously douche-ified statement of the year. Even better than him sloshed @ the Golden Gods. And you KNOW they'll cut to a shot of Lars & James sitting in their seats all snobby & shit…I could care less but am excited for it at the same time! (confused now..need…smoke…)
