Between Infestissumam and Meliora, we got the If You Have Ghosts EP. The release featured a whole bunch of cover songs and a live version of "Secular Haze." Now, between Meliora and whatever album comes next, we could possibly get an EP again! Though it'll be a bunch of songs the band decided not to record for the album and not so much on the side of covers.
Here's what one of Ghost's masked marauders had to say to A Music Blog, Yea? (below).
"We don't really know. We have a list of songs that we want to record that was initially on the list, basically, to record together with the [latest Ghost] album [Meliora]. But the way that the material for the album also took a lot of time to pre-produce and to write and arrange and the recording ended up being a procedure that allowed for very little extra material. Whereas many bands go into the studio and they record seventeen songs, choose thirteen and then leave the rest as an extra topping later, we never really got to do that. We had one song ['Zenith'] that was sort of taken out of the main album and added as an extra track, but we never ended up with a long list of stuff that we can just portion out. So that leaves us now in a moment where we're trying to figure out: should we record an EP? When are we supposed to do that? We are basically on tour from now until December '16, so it's a long tour. And do we wanna clutter up any sort of spare time that we have recording. Which is always… In theory, that feels very okay, but when it comes into practice and all of sudden it's January 2nd and you're really tired and you just don't wanna have to do anything, and all of a sudden you're booked into the studio… So we're trying to figure out what is a good and valuable, meaningful release. Because we don't wanna just record another 'Grohl' EP and just repeat the same thing. It has to be something different. So, yeah, that's where we are right now."
Speaking of "Zenith," have you heard that song yet? It's awesome! Unfortunately it was only available on vinyl, so here's hoping it'll be included in the possible EP.
