James Hetfield Says Lulu Is NOT The New METALLICA Album

We've already made up our mind about this Lulu collaboration, and it'll probably suck. James Hetfield is possibly aware that Metallica fans won't be too into it, so he spoke in a recent interview stating that this isn't a Metallica album, this is a different beast, and a new Metallica album is still being written. Here is the quote:
It's definitely different. This is not the new Metallica studio record. This is 'Lulu'. And that's why we named it 'Lulu' — it's not Metallica [and] it's not Lou Reed; it's us together making something called 'Lulu'. I'm sure there's some Metallica fans that will think that 'This is the new Metallica record. I don't like it. I'm scared.' And it's not. This is a project that was presented to us that we wanted to challenge ourselves with. I mean, there's some great riffs on there. There's not a lot of singing from me on it. [It's] Lou and his lyrics, with us writing background music for Lou. So that's what we did. There will be fans that it will be difficult for them to understand, but we can't stop being Metallica, we can't stop exploring what we wanna do as an artist. We don't like limiting ourselves. But we're not doing it just to mess with the fans; that's for sure. If they don't like it, wait until the next record where we're fully focused on Metallica, which we're actually writing right now."
Ugh. At this point, I've resigned to the fact that Metallica will never ever be the same as during the glory years (said years are up for debate, but I consider the first four albums their finest, with much respect for the Black Album). I could care less about new Metallica at this point. What about you guys?

I like Metallica forever but have not bought an album since Load, didn't care for it too much …My favorite.is… and justice for all. I got the Japanese release has the Prince on it. I paid 55 bucks back in the 90's
I saw a lot of there shows all over CA ..It took a while but I did like the black album and day on the green 91 with Queensryche..A well produced album is okay song selection and writing is key …Kevin Burris

If this goes on and I will have to listen to this shit on radio I think I will pretty soon wish that the band had never been formed in the first place.
Sure we would miss some great songs and some albums that changed metal but I am honestly getting to the point were I think it would be a fair trade.
Let's not get too miffed about this. They're doing a different take on good quality writing of music with one of the masters of all time. Out of a theoretical/musical point of view, it shows good character. There's a lot of Devin Townsend/SYL fans that that support his experimentation with other genres. So, you Metallica fans, don't bitch and moan about this. Okay! You can bitch and moan about Lars…

Lulu is not torrent worthy…….but pissing lars off is, so im sure you can find it in a couple more weeks (not sure cause i havent been stoned enough to try and find it)
I don't know. I honestly liked Death Magnetic, but it definitely felt lackluster. I'm worried that they just can't capture the edge they used to have anymore. I'm totally willing to test the waters on a new studio album, though.
