CREED Guitarist Putting Out Thrash Metal Album
- Posted by RobInjection on May 19, 2011
It's the album you've all been waiting for. According to a recent interview, Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti, writer of riffs of those inescapable songs like "With Arms Wide Open" and "Higher" (inescapable in the sense that any supermarket or CVS I would walk into in the late 90s was playing those shitty songs) fanciest himself an speed metal guitarist. You can expect to hear his interpretation of what speed and/or thrash metal sounds like on his upcoming solo record. Here is my predicition: much like every song album Tremonti has created, this will stink! Here is the direct quote:
"I just had three months off while [ALTER BRIDGE singer] Myles [Kennedy] was touring with Slash, so I figured it was a good time to get some music put together. I collaborated with Eric Friedman [a.k.a. Erock] and Garrett Whitlock. All this stuff that I wanted to see the light of day that never really got used for ALTER BRIDGE and CREED is what I'm putting on the record. There's a lot of speed metal and thrash stuff in there — riffs that I had sitting around — that I'm putting on this record. So it's definitely a heavier-sounding album."
How many of you are saving your nickels to buy this record when it comes out?

anyone excited should be donkey punched.
BRING BACK CREED!
I'm actually pretty interested in hearing it. I've seen some of his videos he did for guitar magazines and stuff, the dude can shred.
Laugh if you want, but even if he had a part in making some really shit-tastic music, the dude can play his ass off. He wrote some tasty hard rock riffs in Alter Bridge, so I'm pretty curious to hear this.
While I really like this website, and most of the columns… I must say that this was the worst column I have ever read. I hated Creed, and I can kind of tolerate Alter Bridge…. but to bash Tremonti? Obviously the person who wrote the article is not a guitar player, and knows nothing of Tremonti's abilities… This dude can play guitar like a madman, and in my opinion he is one of the top five guitarists to come out of the last 20 years… Any time you feel like comparing his ability to the other guitarists in the metal community, just log on to youtube… note for note this dude could hold his own with some of the greatest of all time.
I'm certainly no fan of Creed's but Alter Bridge is actually not bad, and I've heard great things about this guy's skills so I'm actually curious to see what he's got.
ENOUGH SAID!

I'm not a fan of Creed, but am a huge fan of Alter Bridge, Tremonti can actually play metal, just look at songs like "White Knuckles" "Ties That Bind" "Metalingus" or "Isolation". Not super fast songs persay, but still have a metal element to them, each of them heavy with melody. He's always said that he would take melody over shredding. I'm actually really interested in how the album is going to sound like.
Mark is a really good guitar player actually. Just look up some of his videos on youtube. I like how people who don't play guitar think he's terrible (like the writer). His solo record will probably sound bettter than half the garbage Metal Injection post on here.
I hate myself for saying this, but i'm looking forward to it, regardless of the fact that he was in a terrible band he is a very talented guitar player so this should be good
