IMMORTAL Is Writing A New Record Without Abbath

Wait… what the hell?

Wait... what the hell?

Well this is really turning out to be something interesting, huh? Earlier this year, founding member and frontman Abbath announced that he was going solo and that Immortal as a group was over. Abbath said that it was because the group wasn't moving forward with new music, which has clearly turned out to be untrue to some extent given a recent article on Blabbermouth regarding Immortal continuing on.

"Immortal never stopped; we just had to go through a long legal process before we could go out in the media with the news," Demonaz and Horgh said in a statement.

"Immortal is much more than just a band, and much more than just a form of music. The departure of one member cannot change that, no matter. We will continue what we believe in, and the power of 'Blashyrkh' shall live on."

According to the website, founding guitarist and lyricist Demonaz and drummer Horgh are working on new music that is due out at some point on Nuclear Blast. The only thing that scares me a little bit about all of a sudden Immortal coming out of the woodwork and announcing a new album to some extent is that maybe this is just a contractual thing. Maybe the group owes Nuclear Blast one more and this album is just going to be something to finish out the band once and for all… and I really hope it isn't.

Also, this will be the first-ever Immortal record that won't feature Abbath on vocals. At this point, we're anxiously waiting more information of what the hell this is all about!
