In conjunction with the release of his solo, one-track EP Play where he played every singe instrument and documented the whole damn thing, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl has announced the The Dave Grohl "Play" Reverb Auction in partnership with Reverb.com.

Grohl will be selling off a ton of equipment from DW Drums, Fender, Gibson Gretsch, Ludwig, Made By Maple and Zildjian all signed by the man himself, and of course will donate all proceeds to "organizations that help young generations of musicians "'just play.'"

"When I take my kids to their music lessons, I see these rooms full of children that are really pushing themselves to figure this out. I'm inspired by watching that process," Grohl said. "Even now, as a 49-year-old man, I'm still trying to figure it out. It's not something that you ever truly master. You're always chasing the next challenge, and you're always trying to find a way to improve what you've learned."

The auction will begin on October 9 and you can preview what's going to be auctioned off here. Also, Dave Grohl has been in the news for some fairly weird stuff lately, including his drinking habits pre-show and tipping 99% on a bill because he felt like it. Dude just seems like he'd be fun to be around.
