CARCASS' Bill Steer Says The Band Has About 50 Minutes Of New Music Written

They want to get into the studio this year.

Carcass has been talking about doing a new record since at least 2016, and now according to guitarist Bill Steer, it's happening.

Steer tells WSOU that the band demoed about 50 minutes of new music during Christmas and that they'll continue writing until they've got more than enough material.

Steer also says he'd like to hit the studio sometime this year, mainly because he feels like it's been too damn long since 2013's Surgical Steel and both he and drummer Daniel Wilding are going nuts not doing a new album.

"I've sort of lost count of how many years have gone by since that last record, but I think it's around five. And yeah, it feels long overdue that we tackle a new record. We did demo a bunch of stuff at Christmas — it was probably close to 50 minutes' worth of music — but we're not gonna stop; we're gonna keep on writing so that we've got quite a lot of material and we can pick the best stuff for the album. So quite when it will be recorded definitively, I don't know, but it will have to be this year. I mean, me and Dan are going stir crazy, really — we're so keen to do it."

The band's next album will be with new guitarist Tom Draper (Pounder, ex-Savage Messiah), who replaced Ben Ash after his departure earlier this year.
