The people who work behind the scenes in the metal world were devastated this week at the loss of Pat Egan, Relapse’s director of sales for the past 10 years. Egan died from complications of pneumonia. I only met Egan on a handful of occasions, but he was always all smiles. Metal Insider and Billboard Magazine both have touching tributes to Egan.
The most heartbreaking thing about Egan's death was he was supporting his daughter, who is currently in college. The fine folks at Relapse quickly put together a great tribute compilation featuring classic cuts from Mastodon, Death, Brutal Truth, Dying Fetus, Dillinger Escape Plan, Pig Destroyer, Brutal Truth, Red Fang, Revocation and other Relapse artists and are selling the tribute on Bandcamp for $5 with all proceed's going to Pat's daughter's college fund.
