RIP Christopher Lee (1922 – 2015), Renowned Metalhead & Lord of The Rings Actor

Update: Take a look back at all of Lee's heavy metal output

We are so sad to report that heavy metal's longest living metalhead, Sir Christopher Lee, famous for his roles as Dracula and his portrayal of Saruman in the Lord of the Rings series, among many others, as well as his annual Christmas metal songs, has died.

Lee passed away at Sunday morning at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, after being checked in for respiratory and heart problems. He was 93 years old. A quick glance at his IMDB page, shows he had an active career in Hollywood for nearly 70 years, with work scheduled throughout next year.

In the metal world, Lee released a few albums, as well as Christmas tunes and when his 2013 single "Jingle Hell" entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts at #22, he became the oldest living musician to enter the charts. Pretty metal, right?

Lee leaves behind a legacy of work. He is survived by his daughter Gina and his wife Christina. Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi posted a very touching tribute moments ago:

So sad to hear about the loss of Sir Christopher Lee. The man was truly a legend and such a great inspiration for me…
