IRON MAIDEN Bassist Said The Band Will Be Done In Five Years

Iron Maiden has been going for quite a while, over thirty years in fact. The band have seen a resurgence recently, putting out some great albums and getting rave reviews for their recent live shows on their Maiden England tour. But the band is getting up there in years, and you have to wonder how much gas is left in the tank. Sure, Bruce Dickinson seems like he can live forever, but how much longer do they actually want to be running around on stage?

This very question was asked to Maiden driving creative force, and bassist, Steve Harris, by The Quietus, and turns out, you don't have very long to see Iron Maiden:

“I don’t know about ten years but I think we’ve certainly got another five years in us but it’s hard to say. As you get older it gets doubly hard to keep yourself fit and in shape. We do work really hard on doing that. It’s important to us. We’d be selling ourselves and everyone else short if we didn’t, so we do look after ourselves. [But] It does get tougher.”

Needless to say, this should be taken with a grain of salt. If the band gets some crazy tour offers six years down the line, it'd be easy to see why they would say yes to such things. Additionally, this is just the opinion of one of the members. Who knows what the other guys think? But, could we be seeing a Maiden farewell tour in the future?

Currently, the only scheduled date for the band is next year's Download Festival.
